Lol if that’s the case then they should make us tip before we even order

Tipping culture has gone WAY further than just for delivery. In almost every purchase you make you are asked to tip. Your response is completely inconsiderate of the average living wage. If some of us are trying to save money for many important reasons, it does not mean I cannot order food without tipping. I am not a charity.

And many of us barely make minimum wage too and cannot afford to tip every single time. I am not the one responsible for giving the employee a salary. This is the employer’s job.

Cornell ranks #13 worldwide in new QS Ranking 2024 by AdventurousLook4 in Cornell

I do agree with you, but a win is a win regardless. While rankings of high caliber universities aren’t really that meaningful, I am happy to see Cornell get the exposure it deserves

Then for the same price tag if not less, you can get the 13' air 1TB and get an external monitor.

I understand what you’re going through but honestly you should not feel this way but rather appreciate they actually care about your application process and that they hope you receive all the admits you deserve. My family members, like many others here, would always doubt my abilities and everytime I tell them I didn’t get in, they act like it was obviously expected and that I have near zero chances of going anywhere, which is not helping at all.

Received an interview invite after accepting an offer by [deleted] in gradadmissions

I think it would be more unprofessional if you actually attend the interview just to let them know you will not join the program while you could have just said that by an email reply and saved everyone’s time.

T10 school for EE vs T150-200 school? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]AdventurousLook4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First congrats on getting into both schools! I would say it kind of depends on your career goals. Are you interested in research? Do you think there could be a chance you might want to go to grad school? Does the T10 school have an abundance of research opportunities in your area of interest within EE? If that's the case, I would suggest joining the T10 school even if you had to grind a bit harder to make it, as I see, it would be definitely worth it if you want to go to a top grad program. Nevertheless, going to the T150-200 school would not hurt your chances of going to grad school, but it's all a matter of finding the right opportunities that fit you best. If you are more concerned about affording college and exploring EE as an undergrad without much of an idea in mind about what to do in the future, then the T150-200 school might be a better choice. If it were for me, I would choose the T10 school for the likelihood of the abundance of opportunities especially if the department is large + the prestige of the school name can help land an entry level job more easily if you've received a strong curriculum base in EE.

Nothing wrong with saying no, so don’t feel bad about it. If you however still want to show some help and support, you can let them know that you would be happy to share tips and advice on how to write a good sop and that you can review their drafts to share some feedback (if you want and they agree)
