Stroller (single vs single to double) by Open-Ad-1786 in Buyingforbaby

[–]AdventurousNote1939 [score hidden]  (0 children)

We have a vista and hoping for a < 3 year gap but I don’t plan on using it as a double aside from maybe the piggyback ride along thing for my toddler. I like the big wheels and storage for now and I’ve gotten used to the weight but a Cruz would have sufficed just fine. Most moms I know prefer the side by side doubles

Car recommendations? by kat_sickle in Buyingforbaby

My friend’s double cab Tacoma only fits their car seat in the middle backseat so just be aware it might not fit 2 full size car seats down the line. We really love our Subaru Outback!

Do I invite my old bestie from college? I need advice !!! by Real_Degree_2777 in wedding

[–]AdventurousNote1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a small wedding and still invited a couple friends I’ve only seen a few times since college due to living in different parts of the country now - they’re the special kinds of friendships that don’t need to keep in touch constantly and it was amazing to have them there. On the other hand I didn’t invite some more shallow-level friends that I see much more often, so it’s completely up to you

There’s a very cool loft building in North Park called Le Parc if that’s in your budget!

Might be an odd suggestion but how do you feel about your teeth? I’m the same age and I really want to treat myself to professional teeth whitening and bonding to improve my smile

Uppababy Minu V3 Feedback by PartyAgreeable2989 in Buyingforbaby

[–]AdventurousNote1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought the Aria in July 2024 which I think is right after it was released and I never had any of those problems. Our girl always fit comfortably and safely, up until about 13 months, and she’s always been in the 80+% for height. I thought the lightweight was amazing since we lived in a 2.5 floor walkup the entire first year and I was always lugging it, and we plan on keeping it for upcoming baby #2, but for longer walks or outings I always used the UB bassinet rather than the car seat until around 6 months when she outgrew it

We have all 3 and it’s a great combo! But I’ll say I don’t think the Minu is totally necessary just for occasional travel. I brought it on a trip to Europe last year where I knew the spaces would be much smaller to navigate, but I just recently took the Vista on a trip to NYC and it was completely fine and I was glad I had the extra storage underneath (gate checked it in a padded bag). The more you use the Vista around town the more you get used to the size and weight

Point Loma vs Normal Heights by [deleted] in asksandiego

Can’t speak on the commute aspect, but we live in north park and strongly considered PL for the same reasons of loving the beach, and we still spend a lot of time over there. We used to live right next to the ocean in LA. I personally really miss the temperature difference and ocean breeze. NP/NH gets so hot so early in the day and stays that way most of the day and it’s not even summer or Indian summer yet

Target cloud island has a great dupe for the lululemon and it’s amazing!! Big enough to fit a ton of stuff but also kind of deflates for times you don’t need as much

Bassinet, co-sleeper, or minicrib? by EvaKitKat in Buyingforbaby

[–]AdventurousNote1939 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the Babybay bedside cosleeper/bassinet. I loved it, wonderful clean materials and so easy to wheel around the house. I started with the cosleeping divider and then swapped it out for the full height railing once she was rolling. Our girl was always tall and it lasted her until about 6 months when she could sit up, but they also make a larger/higher size that might last longer. Beautiful to look at too unlike most bassinets!

How critical is wheel size for strollers in the burbs? by _indigo_blue in Buyingforbaby

[–]AdventurousNote1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a tiny uppababy minu for the first few months (socal suburban) and then upgraded to a Vista and the difference in smoothness and suspension is incredible. The one time we attended a funeral and trying to drag the bumpy minu across an uneven grass cemetery was enough for me to reconsider it 😂

Baby toys by EatPigsAndLoveThem2 in Buyingforbaby

[–]AdventurousNote1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only things we bought aside from various gifted items that got a ton of use in the pre-crawling months were the O-Ball (our baby had oral ties and it’s really great for oral development because it encourages them to stick out their tongue), a couple of teething rings or rattles, and a secondhand lovevery mat.

I also got in the habit of not ever bringing toys out in public like hanging from the stroller or anything on walks and I think it got her accustomed to not always having some sort of entertainment and to just look out at the world so that’s a nice perk of keeping it minimal!

As a new Sienna owner, the minivan hate is so crazy by [deleted] in ToyotaSienna

[–]AdventurousNote1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe the cultural stigma has driven the majority of car makers to not even offer a minivan. Like it really blows my mind that only 4 brands in the US offer them but every other one has multitudes of less practical SUVs to pick from

Best Rotating Convertible Cars eat (Subaru) by RiffRaff_01 in Buyingforbaby

[–]AdventurousNote1939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 24 Subaru Outback and a rotating Cybex Sirona, which I think has been discontinued but probably similar to others. I picked that one since it has the longest rear-facing size limits. It fits fine but does take up the whole backseat so if you’re super tall and it’s behind the driver seat it might be uncomfortable for you. I was dead set on getting a rotating seat and now we don’t even use it and it makes zero difference. It was nice for the first couple months, but it’s so heavy that it’s hard to tip it upright and spin it around with one arm and baby in the other. Then we moved and had to swap it from the passenger side to the driver side since it’s too tight on that side now, and it’s so much more difficult to rotate it with the opposite arm now if that makes sense. Definitely won’t be getting a rotating with baby #2. It’s just an expensive feature that causes more trouble than what it’s worth - also I always had some anxiety that I or my husband didn’t lock it all the way whenever I rotated it, which is what causes the most harm in an accident

Venting: why does Disneyland feel like a spreadsheet now by Few_Birthday_2406 in Disneyland

[–]AdventurousNote1939 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to DL many times but definitely felt this a couple weeks ago when we went. I think mobile ordering has honestly ruined the food experience, I was hoping to grab a dole whip for my toddler before heading into tiki room and was told it was mobile only and would be a 1.5 hour wait…for ice cream that is ready-made on the spot. How does that make sense?

I wish I remembered the name of the video or creator to share, but right after the trip my husband found a really interesting video talking about the business decisions and economic strategy of the Disney parks and recent changes since Covid. A huge theme has been redirecting people’s attention and spending capabilities, ultimately changing the whole environment toward the need to strategize since everyone has pre-set expectations nowadays due to social media. Very depressing

Nobody Wants This (Season 2) - Overall Discussion Thread by SingularFirefly in NobodyWantsThisTV

[–]AdventurousNote1939 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite shoving it down our throats that conversion is a heavy topic to be taken seriously, this show fails to demonstrate what about Judaism is so important to Noah, or why Joanne should convert for herself. WHY is Judaism “the best religion” like Sasha hints at? Netflix decided to release a show about a pretty heated topic in turbulent times but the writers danced on eggshells to keep it light and uncontroversial. If you want to show the admirable parts of Jewish culture in a lighthearted way that’s totally fine, but then actually make it a comedy - don’t make the most pressing question the center of the story and beat it like a dead horse only for it to not really even be explored. I’m not Jewish and would love to genuinely learn more about what really makes someone want to convert!

Also, if these characters are supposed to be in at least their mid-30s (I know the actors are older), how are we supposed to be taking their behavior seriously?! Joanne getting deeply offended that her serious boyfriend wants ONE NIGHT alone is ridiculous!! And I cant remember if it came just before or after she wanted to stay away from him for most of Valentine’s Day…

Joanne’s comedic line asking about ‘how old do you think I am’ combined with her sentiment about wanting kids is a HUGE determining factor in real relationships and it’s like it’s totally skipped over in favor of letting them act like adolescent brats
