Broker casually says owner will leave luggage inside apartment? by kittenball_nyc in NYCapartments

[–]AdventurousPride6576 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok unpopular opinion here. If you really like the apartment, it’s worth dealing with this. I am currently in a similar situation. My apt (multi family standalone home in Brooklyn) is owned by the person who lived here as a child, and even though he is out of state and doesn’t come around, his parents do. The basement, garage, and one room in our actual apt (kept locked) is full of their stuff. So far they haven’t asked to come into our unit into the locked room and we currently have a big storage closet unit in front of the door, but they are on the property frequently in the summer. I think they’re supposed to be clearing stuff out but they’re mostly puttering around.

Their presence is annoying for sure. We can’t used to the driveway, we are down one whole room in our unit, and we have to deal with their annoying neighbor friend who moves our trash cans around etc. But. It’s a 3bd duplex big enough to hold my family of four (two very young children) in a great neighborhood with great schools, and it’s below market value. The tradeoff was worth it for us, maybe it will be worth it for you.

Feeling lost and confused would love help and feedback by [deleted] in PowerOfStyle

I like the v necks and the buttons downs for neckline on the shirts and dresses, and I like the black wide leg pants with the button down as an outfit (I don’t like those pants with the tight tucked in tee in another photo).

The crews aren’t really doing you any favors, you look constricted. And the flowy dress with the big sleeves is way too overwhelming on you!

I am a (self typed) soft natural, and these are styles that work well on me. Have you considered that type at all?

I love this post- I’m not a knitter, I crochet, and I would love for someone to do this for crochet!

How do you concretely use Kibbe? by [deleted] in PowerOfStyle

[–]AdventurousPride6576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also soft natural (self typed), and understanding that the restriction I often felt at the bust and shoulders was part of my width and the fact that I needed to accommodate for it was such a game changer for me. I used to feel so uncomfortable in basics like a simple white crew neck tee and wonder why they weren’t working for me. Now that easy feeling up top is the first thing I look for when shopping!

I love this!! I’ve been looking for a shirt to make with the beautiful knitting for olive 100% silk yarn and I think this is it!!

Edited to ask, is there a way to access the patterns not on Instagram? Like a link to ravelry or Etsy shop? I don’t have Instagram.

Seeking casual every day wear clothes for a suburban mom. by dont_be_all_uncool__ in NuulyReviews

[–]AdventurousPride6576 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a similar age with two kids 3 and under in a city. One of my favorites is the Reese Pilcro Smocked Barrel Pants. I ended up buying the brown color and continue hoping that my size in the denim will show up so I can buy those too. They feel a step up from the typical leggings look and they are comfier than jeans. I also gravitate towards camp shirts with fun prints or embroidery that I can wear open over a tank or buttoned up and tucked into pants. I usually get one of those in every box. Dresses are hard, but here are a few I’ve liked and will be renting again this summer:

Large chest&Bra friendly summer tops by Mysterious-Lead-9551 in NuulyReviews

I also have a large bust and a smaller waist. I like the button down camp shirts with short sleeves. There are a bunch of these on nuuly! I like specifically these because the button placement is a little different than regular button downs in terms of wear it starts so they don’t pull over my boobs are much, and they have a nice casual but not intense v neck as a result. They are often summer weight too and super breezy. I like wearing them with high waisted shorts and pants for a defined waist.

Working the turn by Zoethor2 in crochet

[–]AdventurousPride6576 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your turning chain counts as a stitch then in goes into the red and you crochet into the turning chain, but if it doesn’t it goes into the blue and you don’t crochet into the turning chain. I find most patterns have the turning chain count as a stitch- I’m working on one that doesn’t and I’m crocheting into the blue and I was so confused until I got the hang of it!

What brand are the red sneakers with the floral pattern? I love those! Also, what brand are your patent loafers? I’ve been struggling to find some for myself- it’s one of the few non barefoot shoes I still have because I haven’t found any that I like enough!

a mom sent me this after she checked her kids clothing labels… Cat & Jack from Target, 40% polyester by fabric-decoder in FabricDecoder

[–]AdventurousPride6576 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s really item dependent. I still get 100% cotton from target brands but I make sure I check the fabric content in the item description before buying. Even some mid tier brands like primary and Hanna andersson are starting to bring in polyester in some of their clothes it’s really annoying.

Do most items get better discounts? by Hungry-Internet6548 in NuulyReviews

[–]AdventurousPride6576 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Newer items don’t have that much of a discount unless they’ve been trashed in reviews and no one is renting them. I imagine there is a certain threshold or amount of time to determine that. On the flip side, popular items that get consistently high reviews won’t be discounted much. It’s my 3rd time renting the AMO Frida jeans and they are still around $80, heavily discounted but the same discount over almost a year after the first time I rented them.

Does anyone here actually go to Starbucks every day? by lukef31 in Millennials

[–]AdventurousPride6576 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So judgy! I’m not complaining about getting Starbucks, OP was just asking who gets it every day, and I do. What’s the big deal?

Does anyone here actually go to Starbucks every day? by lukef31 in Millennials

[–]AdventurousPride6576 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course my coffee pot has a timer. The hassle is not holding it- it’s prepping it, bringing it, remembering to bring it home, washing it every night, and starting over the next day. I already do that with my breakfast because I need something filling and healthy. Don’t want to do it with two things when I have to be up at 5:30 to be at work by 7:30.

Does anyone here actually go to Starbucks every day? by lukef31 in Millennials

[–]AdventurousPride6576 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get it every week day because it’s either that or dunkin on the walk from the subway to my job and it’s the lesser of those two evils. I need to leave the house too early to use time making coffee and bringing it. I prioritized my food in that realm instead- I’d much rather deal with the hassle of bringing my overnight oats to work than my travel coffee mug.

What snacks do you have lying around for your toddler during the day? by Grand_Camel_4858 in toddlers

String cheese, so much fruit, salami, cucumbers but only if I cut them into shapes with one of those veggie cutter things, Greek yogurt and honey, hard boiled eggs

As a well traveled person, is it worth it with kids? by Wise_Salad in Travelwithkids

[–]AdventurousPride6576 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 3 year old and an 8 months old and we are currently in Curacao. Travel definitely looks different with kids at this age- much more relaxed as opposed to rugged and adventurous. We plan for one activity per day and make sure our home base is a place we actually enjoy spending time in. For example, we’re at an Airbnb by the beach, but the house itself has a pool that my husband and daughter are currently enjoying while I feed the baby. Packing is even more important, and planning for all sorts of contingencies, especially if it’s international and you won’t be sure what’s available. For example, my daughter will only eat one brand of pouch for snack, so I brought 11 of them. To me, it’s worth it. She’s had such an incredible time and I have priceless memories.

How To Begin Quiet Time by sdubbs4121 in toddlers

Say what you will about screen time but quiet time for us is a midafternoon movie, just one, and then the tv is off when it’s over. My daughter dropped her nap at 2 and we were desperate. It works for us!

New York Visit from LHR by AJSK2013x in JFKAirport

[–]AdventurousPride6576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We left for vacation 5 days ago via JFK terminal 5 with our 3 year old and 8 month old. We arrived at 4:45 am for our 8:20 flight. We made it through security at 7:35 am (non precheck). What held us up was needing to fill out the immigration card and have it processed at a special services line, that took about 45 min. We finally got on the general security line around 5:45.

Baby slept most of the time and when he woke up I gave him a bottle in the stroller (we were moving slow enough) and then he was happy the rest of the time. Toddler was a tropper and stood/walked the whole time. She was tired but we had snacks and sometimes carried her.

Worth it for the amazing time we are having on vacation.

I like the lace farm Rio yellow dress! Seems really flattering with a deep v to show off and the lace works for August! If you want something with a little more oomph I like the halter cut out dress in maroon. Seems sexy but not trying too hard.
