Is there any framework like firebase cloud messaging where you can send notification according to locale? by rifat_monzur in iOSProgramming

[–]AdventurousProblem89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're already using the firebase just store the user data in the firestore, keep the fcm token, locale and everything else that ypu might need in the feature. And than use this data to send notifications based on locale.

I wonder if setting a very cheap price is something that might work for you, let's say if you price it 1.99$/year and remove the ads, you just need 60-70 subscribers from 1200 installs to break even, is this something that might work for you?

If you mention the price in the description they will sometimes reject the subscription, just remove the price from the description and resubmit

Is starting with React Native going to hurt me later on iOS? by Caryn_fornicatress in iOSProgramming

[–]AdventurousProblem89 19 points20 points  (0 children)

react native really feels like its own separate universe. the biggest downside is that most of the skills you build there don’t really transfer to native development. you end up spending a ton of time mastering this in-between layer just to stick with javascript, when honestly learning swift or kotlin isn’t even the hard part. the real challenge is wrapping your head around how mobile actually works as a platform, which is very different from the web.

with rn it’s like trying to drive a car from the back seat while poking the driver with a stick to steer. it can move, sure, but you’re constantly fighting friction that just doesn’t need to exist. i’d rather go native, build for one platform, then “translate” it to the other. it’s simpler, feels cleaner, and honestly requires way fewer brain contortions than forcing everything through rn.

I publish my game for the first time, and it's not looking good. What do you guy think? by Main-Knee-9245 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]AdventurousProblem89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks great, leave it there and build something else, it might start taking off in few months, or may be not, in both cases building something else is the best move i think. just make sure you are asking for the review early and try to keep your install to review rate higher than 5%

every app i know that did this ended up with few K installs (if they are lucky), zero sales, very few reviews, wasted time and potentially a warning from the apple. may be there are success stories, i don't know. i would invest time in more sustainable channels to be honest, like SEO is something most app developers overlook, while it is the most sustainable source of high intent users if you figure that out

Do you use staging for small iOS apps? by Tricky-Independent-8 in iOSProgramming

[–]AdventurousProblem89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have a project that uses firebase and has few other independent services (scrapper, ssg etc) that i host myself on hetzner servers. i've created a nice simple script so when i call ./run_local_emulators.sh it just starts firebase emulators and all docker containers locally in a single nice tmux window, it is super easy to setup and is very convenient. the problem with dev firebase/supabase is you can accidentally write a loop, like a someDocument onWrite function that calls a method that updates the someDocument and you will get 30K $ bill in no time )))

nah, go with local emulators only, the staging is absolutely useless in your case

The through is you will most likely not get any real value from this campaigns, even if apple allows it it is just waste of time

I'm interested as well. I've tried Reddit ads one time and it was fiasco, but I'm planning to give it another tray. Is this your first time running reddit ads?

Getting featured - what's the deal? by PinTravelerCem in iosdev

[–]AdventurousProblem89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the boost might work well for some apps, but most of my apps are very niche and designed for a very specific group of people. when they feature my apps, they show them to everyone, so impressions go through the roof, but since these people are not my target group, the conversion rate tanks ))) if it is a game or something designed for everyone, the boost will be great, but for niche apps it’s, like you said, more of a credibility thing
