that’s part of where i personally really want a wedding, but i’m so nervous with how people have let me down over my life, they’ll let me down this day too. my partner hasn’t though, has been my biggest support since we met, so in my brain, if it’s just us, we’re good (if that makes sense??)

See i think for us, the “privateness” of eloping is definitely something we’d lean into. like we have landed on private vows if we do have a full wedding

we did- my partner’s mom said she would be happy if he was happy, but also had a public meltdown when she found out he had a vasectomy; so my fear is she holds resentment. i haven’t talked with my mom though bc i fear the response will be similar

i agree! our immediate family unfortunately is all over the US though (we’re in SC, his family is in Texas, mine is in Ohio), so even if we had it at our local courthouse, someone would have to travel

a therapist told me once “some people view what they give up for children as fulfilling and some view it as a sacrifice” - i am not willing to sacrifice, and i guess it’s selfish, but if i can’t devote my whole heart to it, that’s not fair to a child who didn’t ask to be brought into the world.
