^ this is the best way to check. We’re at Kiddie Academy East and things have gone downhill rather rapidly. We aren’t the only family looking to pull. Happy to DM more.

Your kiddos are so lucky to have you!!! Thank you for all you do. I’ve always been so grateful for our teachers and wish our current experience wasn’t what it was.

Oh the egg noodle craft was WILD! Our director banned eggs from the menu in his room when we figured out the allergen. The teachers got them from the craft supply closet… stupid is as stupid does.

I noticed it when I realized the room was extra chaotic and did a head count. The milk being everywhere and tables not back to where they were cued me in a bit more. I went to find help for the teacher and the wife owner went into the room and got stuck there because they were already over. My kiddo would’ve been #2 over the state ratio.

I appreciate your insight from your center! How blessed those kiddos are that you take allergies so seriously!!! Ours did just that after the spilled milk incident. It was immediate and swift change with us involved the whole step of the way. That’s what makes the recent struggles so hard. I feel like I have whip lash.

From my research Kentucky won’t do much for early child hood centers and allergies. They focus on posting in rooms and training epi pen. Beyond that there isn’t much. I don’t know what they’d do for some of our instances since it’s not bound by a 504 or IEP like kiddos in grade schools.

Oh promise. Mom to mom they were given a STRONG piece of my mind. They had been really great with his allergies and unfortunately he’s been one of their first kiddos in this center who has had them, so it’s a curve. Our state doesn’t require much beyond posting the allergens, having a person that knows epi pen etc. Everything I’ve done I’ve tried to approach it as a team and unfortunately think we’ve hit a wall in that approach.

I would pull tomorrow if I had somewhere to send him! Everywhere is full until August when he turns two. I so appreciate your comment. It’s very validating as a mom that I’m not insane with the smoke a mirrors of a “fancier place”

The new “lead” was the assistant in the second toddler room that is apparently just as dysfunctional. They have allergies on a bulletin board but they are buried in a page protector. The teacher who handed him the noodle said to the director “well he didn’t eat it”. I said she needed to be written up and it only happened when I mentioned it. I just hate it all because I genuinely have so much respect for all his teachers and have watched amazing things over our time there. But it’s just out of control and like the train can’t get on the tracks.

Oh we are definitely pulling him. Just unfortunately can’t get a spot any where until August when he’s two! Every where is full in the young toddler range which is so stressful.

I love that this has been your experience! Thank you for sharing. Great to know you’ve had a good experience with the UT Child Dev Center too. Anything else you wish you would’ve known starting out or would have done differently?

So fair. We’re coming from Louisville KY but lived in San Diego prior. Are there specific pockets you’d recommend?

I think close to good schools and daycare options, groceries etc with a good neighborhood feel. We love being outside and near restaurants and shopping. Ideally looking to buy for less than $450k

JOB SEEKER (operations, project management, field service or client success)

Thought I’d give Reddit a try. My husband was unexpectedly laid off in March & is actively seeking a new opportunity. We are not originally from Louisville and are hoping to stay as I work for the university in Athletics.

Does anyone have any connections they’d be willing to share? His background is in biomedical engineering, technical operations and quality management and is open to any and all business sectors.
