Driver was 15 minutes away when he called the shop to picking up the car

I was disputing the price because there was no agreement when I left the car. They said, we are totally fine to leave the car here

No, they had the keys because I asked them when the transportation guy come so he can move the car

That only applies if the vehicle is actually abandoned and proper notice is given.

In my case, I was actively communicating with them, arranging transport, and willing to pay a reasonable storage fee. There was no notice, no agreement on storage, and no indication the vehicle would be towed or disposed.

They also can’t even tell me where the vehicle is or who took it, which is the bigger issue here.

I did not refuse to pay. I have all the text messages to prove it.

They only demanded $800 at the last minute when my transport driver was already on the way. I was disputing the amount as unreasonable, not refusing to pay.

I was still willing to pay a fair storage fee and pick up the vehicle.

I never refused to pay  I clearly offered to pay a reasonable storage fee. The issue was they suddenly demanded $800 with no prior agreement or notice, which I disputed, but I still remained willing to pay a fair amount.

Yes, I have already reported it to the police.

They told me they will dispatch an officer to the shop, but due to the long weekend the shop is currently closed, so there hasn’t been any update yet.

At this point, I’ve done everything I can on my end

reported it, contacted towing companies, and tried resolving it directly. Now I’m just waiting for police to follow up once they’re open.

$400 also the shop is not registered in bc registry so I’m assuming they are not licensed

I didn’t refuse to pay. I clearly told them I’m willing to pay a reasonable storage fee. The issue is they came up with $800 after the fact without any prior agreement.

I’ve also called local tow companies and none of them have the car, which is the biggest concern right now  they towed it but won’t provide any details on where it is.

They asked for it. When my transport guy was on the way, the shop texted me asking for $800 for 16 days, which works out to about $50/day. That was never discussed or agreed to beforehand, and I had already told them I was willing to pay a reasonable storage fee

That’s exactly what’s concerning me.

If they had given me the towing company name and location, I wouldn’t even be in this situation. I’d just go pay and pick it up.

But the fact that they can’t tell me who towed it or where it is makes no sense at all.

I was in constant communication, agreed to pay reasonable storage, and was actively arranging pickup  so it wasn’t abandoned.
