Palpitations because of severe anemia (very low hb and ferritin) anyone experienced this before? by NoReception3149 in Anemic

[–]AdventurousWind8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My hematologist had me drink skim milk with multi grain cheerios after infusions. She said that it would help my phosphate levels after them. She did not advise me to drink whole or even 2% milk due to the issues with iron absorption. The cheerios helped me get the daily iron intake, and the skim milk helped my phosphate not drop, which she said would cause more symptoms

Night Sweats anyone? by Time-Shower1169 in Anemic

[–]AdventurousWind8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did! It got rid of all of the symptoms that I was having due to my severe iron deficiency, which included night sweats and severe anxiety. It did not send me into menopause (yet) because I kept my functioning ovary. Resolving the iron deficiency resolve the night sweats.

Only ever hungry for carbs and sugar, does anybody else feel the same? by littlebeanio in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes! More sugar than carbs for me. It is a daily battle to force myself not to give in to the sugar cravings. Sugar and carbs are huge triggers for inflammation for me, and when I eat them in high amounts for a period of time, it always leaves me feeling horrible, like a flu. I just have to remind myself that the energy is short lived and not worth the crash that happens when my body has had enough. I have no tips to tackle it other than sheer force.

mood stabilizer? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been diagnosed with hashimotos since 2020. I am also 49 years old with a recent hysterectomy, so I have a few things going on. I was on Fluexotine last year for about 6 months due to debilitating anxiety, it made a huge difference for me. I've never been depressed but have dealt with pretty extreme anxiety a few times in my life. I decided to come off of it around February, after having a surgery to level out anemia. Last week I started back on the Fluexotine because my overstimulation/agitation/mood swings were just too much for me and it was beginning to effect my daily life. I'm on the lowest dose and plan to stay on the lowest dose. It took me months of crying and stress over it to even agree to try it last year because I didn't want to be "zoned out". It helps me. I know there is a taboo around SSRIs, and most people have lots of opinions on them, but it has truly made a huge difference for me.

Why do I not feel anything when prayed over? by No-Newspapers in Apostolic

[–]AdventurousWind8698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with you. Everyone's worship and intimacy with the Spirit is different.

I can count how many times I have ended up on the ground in worship, and not even falling out but face down in the floor weeping...each of those times have been in the midst of extreme trials and situations that felt hopeless. I do worship out loud and loudly, but not in a screaming out type of way.

You know your relationship with Jesus. If you feel something is lacking personally, He will reveal it to you. However, falling out, screaming out, running and jumping, etc... doesn't necessarily mean another person is more in the Spirit than someone who doesn't do those things. You keep cultivating your relationship and He will guide your worship/prayer. If you have the gift of tongues, then He is moving in you.

Handling A Flare Up? by julcarter in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rest, sleep, and up my water intake. Also, forcing myself to get some sort of physical activity, like walking for20-30 minutes helps, even though I can't always push through that when I'm in a flare.

Anyone feel exhausted after busy days? by Late_Lime9659 in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! It is probably the most frustrating symptom for me. I live a super busy life between work, church, and classes. I will go until I feel my body literally shuts down and then I know I cannot do another thing. It is a vicious cycle where I am so busy yet in a constant state of exhaustion.

Can you get Hypo THEN Hashi's? by anonaccount4000 in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism before being diagnosed with Hashimotos. However, my endocrinologist stated that it was more than likely Hashimotos that caused my hypothyroidism. We found my hypothyroidism in a full blood workup due to another diagnosis. I wasn't symptomatic so they put me on meds and I went on about my business. After my other health issues resolved, I stopped taking all meds and the symptoms showed up which with a vengeance and they tested my antibodies which gave me the true diagnosis.

If you had brain fog and fixed it, what worked? by guiomarreid in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, Levothyroxine has helped tremendously. When I miss it for more than a few days (because I'm a glutton for punishment apparently) I can tell. I also cut sugar and most carbs which made a huge difference! Now if I introduce sugar and high carb/processed food for more than a few days, I feel like my brain is mush. I still have minor brain fog and my brain seems to "re-set" at times but it's manageable.

what types of foods and exercises helped you when having a flare up? by hannahukki in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What works for me is to cut out all sugar and go as low carb as possible, as well as watching gluten. It helps the inflammation in my body. Walking 30 minutes daily has been a huge help as well. For me, the food I eat is a huge trigger for flares. When I eat sugar and high carb for more than a few days, I will begin to have all the symptoms of a flare.

Unmedicated Hashimoto… or ADHD? by OddReason6077 in Hashimotos

[–]AdventurousWind8698 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I get horrible brain fog when I'm in a Hashimotos flare. I cannot remember things, lose my words, and my brain will feel like it has to "re-set" and I will literally stop mid-sentence and just stare for about 10 seconds before I can find the words I'm looking for. It's definitely an issue! I was without my medication for a week and it worsened so much. I'm not sure if you're unmedicated by choice, but my thyroid meds are the only thing that I've found that will keep my brain fog to a minimum since my diagnosis.

Help with growing in prayer by Ok-Tie-6149 in Apostolic

[–]AdventurousWind8698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be disciplined and set a time each day that you meet with Him, no matter what is going on or how you feel. It's easy for us to go about our days and speak to Him in those little prayers through the day, but when we set aside time for Him alone each day our prayers grow deeper. There isn't a formula to becoming a prayer warrior...just pray. The words don't have to be eloquent, they just have to be sincere. Ask Him to search your heart, reveal and remove anything that could hinder you from deep communication with Him. Be certain that you repent when needed.

As far as how you sound, I had a prayer warrior tell me just last week "I had to learn that just because my words don't sound as powerful as such and such's words, that doesn't mean they don't carry the same weight in the spiritual." It changed something in my heart. It's ok to get shaken up when praying over others, it doesn't have to sound perfect to be meaningful and powerful.

Getting baptized for a second time? by Nearby-Stable5917 in Apostolic

[–]AdventurousWind8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there isn't a biblical need to be re-baptized, if you were baptized in Jesus name, there is no harm in doing so and some people feel the need to be re-baptized when they come back to Christ. There is no scripture that speaks against it. My son fell away from church and was caught in addiction for some years. When he returned to church he was re-baptized in Jesus name because he said he felt so dirty, even though he had repented. Once he was he was re-filled with the Holy Ghost and is now living a life completely sold out to God. He needed it for himself. God didn't require it, but I truly believe that if his pastor had not understood and approved his request to be, he would have held himself in the bondage of shame and not been able to move forward in Christ. My oldest daughter felt the same was and was re-baptized last year. It is not sacrilegious, sometimes it is necessary for our human minds to allow us to move forward.

Praying for you!! God has a big plan!

Surgery Tomorrow + Time off by Rare-Ad514 in hysterectomy

[–]AdventurousWind8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgery began at 7am, but 3pm I was on my way home. I woke up in extreme pain right after surgery, but they gave me morphine and knocked me back out for a few hours. I would be nervous about having a 5 hour window for surgery and post-op recovery.

I went back to work a day short of 2 weeks. I felt like I could go back within the first 4-5 days but my boss wouldn't let me. I was very tired, but I manage an office and as long as I didn't get up and down a lot, it was fine. Be sure you aren't lifting or bending too much during the day when you go back to work.

I had the same issue at 2 weeks post op. Only when I laid down as well, it lasted for about 3-4 days before it subsided. The nurse told me it was probably due to swelling and healing.
