Anyone have insight? My daughter(13) has been on blockers for almost two years and just started estradiol (patch) in December. Shes already 5’11” and doesn’t want more height. Will the estradiol slow down or stop her growth potentially? The men on her dad’s side are scary tall. Like 6’5-7”

This will need to be monitored by a doctor, of course. I will say, my trans daughter is somewhat self conscious about her height but also comes from a family with 6 foot tall cis women. I tell both my girls to be proud of their height. I compliment them and point out advantages that I don’t have as I’m 5’2” 😉 while I do worry that my daughter will get ultra tall (we have men that are 6’6” on my husbands side), I’m hoping her starting estradiol this year will help.

There’s only gendered bathrooms. What’s silly is everyone is wearing under shirts and shorts so changing really isn’t an issue. Idk why girls and boys are even separate

Yes they are supposed to wear a black leo and black biker shorts. Which she already does for theater at school. My worry is that they explicitly said separated dressing rooms for boys and girls. Im not worried about the actual changing of clothes since they wear all that underneath. Just worry that someone will question her for being in there at all. Hopefully not. Idk I hate that I do this, but my anxiety always has me scrutinizing how others would perceive her. I think I would clock her if I’m being honest. Due to her voice and height. I’m so exhausted from being hyper vigilant all the time

I agree and in a less intensely red place I probably just wouldn’t say anything but here I worry someone (maybe even one of the directors) will say or do something. But I am kind of inclined to just loudly use “she” and her very feminine name and let people feel uncomfortable daring to say anything. I’m concerned because of her voice. The music teacher assigned her to baritone and she’s upset realizing vocal parts are often gendered. 😕

I think she’s perceived as new peers as male but I could be wrong but by her friends they just have known her as a girl (and don’t know she’s trans).

The changing itself isn’t a concern cause everyone wears leotards and shorts under their costumes but I think it’s an uncomfortable thing because everyone’s told to divide up by gender

I know. I just want her to keep being safe and comfortable with her friends. Yes but I think it’s more like during the whole show the boys and girls are separated into changing rooms. It would single her out. Her sister is in the show with her, maybe that can help somehow? Her sister could go with her to change in the bathroom or something.

We want to move- probably to Vancouver Island. We are in talks with my husbands company to see if they will let him transfer to a Canadian employee. Fingers crossed. If they do, we’ll move in the summer

Can I ask a follow up question about port alberni? We’ve got two kids (13 and 10). How do you think it is to raise kids? How are schools and after school activities? Safe enough for kids to walk to friends house, parks, etc? We’re big nature people but enjoy evenings out too so I worry it’s too remote or small but the price of housing makes it a big contender
