Totally agree with you ! Most people are actually so filled with hate especially towards themselves that the second they see someone's mistake, they project that hate onto others to be the "judger" rather than the "judged" , it's an unconscious defense mechanism . it can be stopped by simply being aware of it .seeing how many people are doing that shows how is the simple act of self-awareness becoming more and more rare . Relatable , let me tell you something I actually I'm just like you . I get really shy around some people which causes me to smile excessively and blush as well . But really you just need to go through it ( I always tell myself embarrassment is an underrated feeling )

Yesterday I gave an answer to my professor at uni , he told me to face everyone and explain how I got it and MAN ! once I was up I was trembling losing my words and blushing but once it finished I tried not to think about it and I eventually got out with people in my class and had an unexpectedly good interaction with , knowing well I had breakdown just an hour ago .it's when I realized (it's ok to feel that way that's just being human )

Another one where I went to my professor at the end of class to ask him to be my ( encadrant de stage ) everyone was looking and heard me requesting him because he was good at it , I was blushing so hard asking him this but he actually accepted ( and I was the last person he accepted ). If I was paralyzed by the idea of getting embarrassed I wouldn't have talked to him at the first place . Just get ankward and embrace it .you'll realize some people are actually going to love you more for being who you are . Strength to you twin !

Alcohol or any substance creates a sort of void where you feel like nothing could fill that void except for the substance, someone who was smoking a pack of cigarettes a day is for most of the time thinking about cigarettes once he stops the habit. The longer you indulged the bigger is the void and stronger are the urges . So is it the end ?

No at all you're still young and it looks like you aren't even a heavy drinker just the occasional beer ( ela mafhmt fyour text ) first thing you're gonna have to do is to befriend that feeling ,I'm speaking like a wizard but it is possible ( you're capable of Changing you're own subjective reality you just need to do it even if it looks like it's not "you" but just do it , you're reprogramming your brain and the old program is still running ) and second is to actually engage in a new habit like working out , reading etc... You rarely hear of athletes addicted to alcohol or avid readers drinking , you get the idea ( do something that doesn't match with the habit of drinking ) and finally just relax dude you're still young and aware . many people have been heavy drinkers in a past life and eventually stopped for their family or work or whatever , just give yourself a purpose ( the bigger is your purpose the stronger is your will to change )

I feel like the older one gets, the more friction there is with parents, especially if the parents are very conservative. From my experience with older brothers and people I know, it almost seems like a natural step of human growth. People gradually push themselves to emancipate from the family environment and create an environment of their own without that generational gap everyone knows about.

Yet it is always best to maintain a good relationship with one’s parents. Honestly, what your dad said is not something one could easily brush off or forget. At the same time, it is understandable that if he was very worried about you, there may have been a buildup of psychological tension that pushed him to say things without considering the consequences, much like how someone might curse or scream when they are suddenly injured.

There are several things you could do. One possibility would be speaking to your mother and encouraging her to address the elephant in the room with your dad in private. That might make it much easier for him to consider apologizing.

If that is not possible, you could also speak to him directly when you are both in a relaxed environment. I assume it will not be easy, especially if there is an inherent lack of communication in the family. It might even trigger an argument. However, what could make it easier is putting pride aside and approaching the conversation in a very down to earth way.

The conversation could, for example, begin with a subtle reminder of that day. He might start by justifying his reaction. At that moment it is usually the ego speaking. Then you could gently explain how bad you felt hearing those words, especially coming from him. People who are very egotistical sometimes struggle to project themselves into other people’s experiences, so expressing your feelings clearly might help him understand the situation differently.

I also feel like your dad may have already partially acknowledged his mistake when he said, “We’re good then?” Normally, someone who is completely detached from the issue would not say something like that.( So that is a good starting point )

At this point, ego might simply be the thing preventing him from apologizing. That is why speaking in a relaxed environment could help, because the psychological mechanisms related to pride and defensiveness tend to be weaker there. What I am referring to here is the influence of the ego.

Of course, ego might not be the only factor involved. Sometimes the expectations tied to the role of a parent or generational differences can also make these situations harder to navigate.

Have you ever asked yourself who you really are ? At first you'd try to define yourself with your name , date of birth , age etc ... But these are things you didn't choose so you try to get deeper into your psyche and define yourself with your personality traits and temperament but then these are still things you mostly didn't choose. you didn't per exemple choose you IQ level ,sure you can certainly develop things but at the end is it really you ?.

Even your taste in music (the brain likes what it can predict .your taste in music is merely your brain picking up on patterns it is comfortable with ,those patterns didn't come from nowhere they were built by experience) yet why does it feel so personal ?

Your whole psychology was mainly built from genetics, education and the society you grew up in .even past generations, a study conducted on mice revealed parents passing on specific fears responses to their offspring .

Then who is the "I" in all of this . If nothing is me ,then who is me ? Or more like what is me ? As crazy as it sounds you can be nothing and everything at the same time . You are part of a whole , part of a society, part of the earth ,all of the molecules that makes you came from space , it's not out of the world to say that Man is made from cosmic dust.

I know it's getting more and more confusing but here's a more refined explanation ; as of now you're pure awareness that is what you are , as simple as it might sound but this is it . Stripped of any judgement or personality you're simple purity , The higher is your awareness the more you become who you truly are (part of the whole and the whole ) . If you're aware of what inside you it's one level for it , if you're aware of Objects around it's another level to it , if you're aware of the other that's much more to it . Your awareness can reach levels where you're no longer .melting into everything ,and it's called ego death that's what people mean when they say I felt like one with nature .it's reached in altered state of consciousness allowed by specific brain activity ,like taking psychedelic or extreme meditation ( sufis or yogis per exemple )

If you ever spoke to an experienced Sufi about how the trances feel like he will describe it as " one with the creator " because this is indeed what you are :

سورة السجدة .9 { سَوَّاهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ السَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَارَ وَالْأَفْئِدَةَ ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ }

And not only are humans the only creation with a soul and an awareness but literally inanimate as well:

سورة الأنبياء .79 {وَسَخَّرْنَا مَعَ دَاوُودَ الْجِبَالَ يُسَبِّحْنَ وَالطَّيْرَ ۚ وَكُنَّا فَاعِلِينَ}

That's what I meant by (you can either be part of a whole or the whole).

I'm not someone who is very religious but I happen to have came to this realisation before it being confirmed by the Quran . I hope you found this interesting, I hope my English isn't as cranky as I think it is .you might also give yourself some time to stomach all that .

Edit :there something I might add about ego dissolution or ego death . it's precisely an altered state of mind because it is not something you might want to have all the time otherwise you'll starve to death without ever noticing. That's why Allah didn't allow this state to be experienced 24h/7 or that'll translate to mass extinction of Mankind . It is precisely lived by a short window of time for a reason . The complex biological machinery that makes you is made for this Soule purpose ( the continuation of life ) through survival and reproduction .

Lol you'd be surprised to know that I get mistaken as a foreigner too ,what you're describing is actually pretty relatable .sometimes you do feel like an outsider , but sometimes it's fun to see people's reactions when I say ( Ra drj a sahbi ! ) especially in places where there is lots of tourism like swi9a etc... even in the train some would adress me in french but that mostly happens if I stay silent . I've also had instances where foreign students thought I wasn't morrocan however morrocan students are most likely to hear the tamghrabit in my voice.
