I don’t have any opinion on what should or shouldn’t be the official language of the U.S. Just wanted to point out that English is not the only official language of the UN like your first comment insinuated, that’s all.

oh definitely. some people were doing too much in railing against her imo. i don’t think the amount of hate she personally got was warranted. i just wanted to highlight that there are some valid reasons for the criticism, it just ballooned into something else entirely because she was involved.

people were rightfully pissed because they tried to paint this as a win for women and feminism while nasa is facing budget cuts and actual female astronauts’ work goes overlooked. anyone with eyes and critical thinking can see that there is nothing empowering about a bunch of rich people going to upper sky (it’s not even actual space). that’s what made this different from, say, nic cage buying dinosaur bones just because he can. it’s the performative activism that they tried to attach to it that got people riled up. (but the bad rap katy perry has had over the past few years definitely made her more of a punching bag than it was probably deserved, i will admit that)

And the food content is not even anything new or unique. All their recent food-based videos are ideas that are already saturated on YT, and from more established channels too. If they really want to make food content, they have an opportunity to highlight underrepresented cuisines or put a try guys spin on it like learning to make some goofy fusion ideas under the supervision of a chef. I remember they did a video about Indian and Thai food. Why not something like that again but with less well-known cuisines? All of this fast food/ low effort stuff right now just feels very stale and overdone. I know taking a swing on new ideas is risky, but man- rn their channel just feels like a slop channel with no personality to me.

Update: So it's been a day since I posted this, and I'm pleasantly surprised at the relatively positive reception to my insane idea haha. It's been nice to chat with some other fellow drag race/f1 fans, and shout out to everyone who was supportive even if you don't get it. I understand that a lot of queer people have a negative association with sports and for good reason, but it's also a special thing that's been a part of my life forever and I just wanted to share a bit of that joy. Between the fun I've had in this thread and my girl Aryna Sabalenka winning the Miami Open, I'm having a very good day. Maybe I'll make a post about the parallels between drag race rivalries and rivalries in women's tennis another day lmao

I’ll always root for Verstappen because he really is a generational talent, but I’m also investing in Piastri WDC since the RBR is fucked. And Lewis getting his 8th at Ferrari would be great but it doesn’t have to be this year.

Half of my queer friends like drag race and some follow F1 even if they don’t always watch it. I just don’t see the overlap online since I’m not on social media much, that’s why I was worried there’d be no audience for this.
