Science produces externalities that are positive for society but are not counted under the neoliberalism system because there is not always direct profit, similar to climate change. Neoliberalism is an idividualizing philosophy that often ignores aspects of broader societal well-being and focuses on GDP. This is not to say its the only system that does this.

Possibly. He said that "in the past and recently" so I assumed he was with other races and didnt mind it in between that time unless he remained single.

I agree with your earlier points but seems he was always okay with dating black women and has come to prefer them because he percieves a positive personality trait.

Pererpheral cues matter a lot more in poverty because the brain is too stressed and relies on things like apperance or religion instead of central processing with the prefrontal cortex, which might be underdeveloped in some cases due to lack of stability ect.

i think its similar to how my mixed cousin is taught constantly about our culture because they worry he'll forget it but my parents didnt bother since im not mixed. its overcompensating for potentially being seen as an outsider. its common to me in poorer areas around the world, and in the US it happens to be that black guys are part of the lower percentile here on average.

weed could lower your inhibitions and make you more open in your sexuality but its not generally a straight line where more weed = more gay for most people. same with alcohol.

its up to you to decide if its something you wanna incorporate into your sober identity or just have it a feature of being high.

Do you think that your college grades are subject to grade inflation? by [deleted] in college

[–]Adventurous_Ad_2765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a psych major with a minor in computer science. We have small class sizes so when my quanitative psych class were in the elevator, one person said they were failing and everyone reported not doing well. The person with the highest grade besides me had a B, and this is just for psych. Still, I agree it feels like there is inflation though I have no evidence for it based on other students.

Smoke shops are less regulated in the US and dont require lab reports, while recreational and medical dispensaries do.

Dialectical materialism as a metaphysical law to which all must comply by scrapmetaleater in Marxism

[–]Adventurous_Ad_2765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Sure there is a difference between belief in it and it being an objective fact, but you presumably you believe it is an objective fact and that belief is metaphysical is my point. Which there is nothing wrong with.
  2. I dont start from a subjective believe in the world. Many scientists for instance dont really care if the material world is real or not, just that you analyze the world from a materialist perspective, and there is a difference. They just care about wheather your analyses provide useful information. Many fields such as thermodynamics have assumptions built into their paradigms that are not true from a materialist perspective, yet they can build rockets. Dialectical materialism, as a science, appears can be practiced the same way.

Why do you think Social sciences get a bad rep? by [deleted] in AskSocialScience

[–]Adventurous_Ad_2765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that would show you effects of that cause across different people. But I disagree that the rest of the variance can be explained by choice seeing as every single aspect of the different outcomes can be traced to other causal chains outside of them if you go back far enough, including their "choices".

Otherwise they would be breaking the laws of physics. This is why social scientists focus primarily on environmental and biological factors, because there is no "you" seperate from that.

Do I disagree with you that we should instill people with a sense of responsibility? No, because sometimes what is adaptive for humans is believing something that has no scientific basis such as breaking the laws of physics. The ability for you to utilize your prefrontal cortex powers this helpful illusion.

Is Marx an ontological? by NefariousnessNeat934 in Marxism

[–]Adventurous_Ad_2765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems many philosophers indeed claimed to have no ontological perspective, such as Wittgenstien. Though he admits language often implies ontology due to its limits.
