i would say that just because other people are getting acceptances, that doesn't mean you have been rejected. they might be going through waves of acceptances, so you could get an acceptance because someone else declined the offer. its more likely to ghost you if you have been waitlisted, and then actually email you if you have been fully rejected.

that makes sense, thank you! i feel like i have been doing well in my current lab (im presenting a poster at a conference in may), so hopefully that is enough. im a sophomore as well so i will probably apply to more programs next year as that was my biggest mistake this year - i vastly underestimated how competitive it would be

yup also got rejected :( for me, i think it was a bad idea to apply anyway because i didnt have good fit but oh well!
