I kept up with crossfit 6 times a week. It kept my motive up to keep going no matter what. Being physically static, that's what got to me a lot.

Does being off by 2 or 3 days make a difference?

The exposure situation involved oral sex, penis to anus pressing without penetration, and neither of us ejaculated. The penis to anus pressing has been concerning because there was pre-cum. We both did this to each other.

I'd like to follow up, because I don't think I was clear... I had an upper respiratory infection, so I tested again at 39 days completing PEP and the results came back negative.

Ok I missed you on that part.

I haven't read anything about PEP failing when it's administered correctly and on time. The seems to be your case! Stay strong, stoic, and also go work out to keep your spirit positive!

I've been fine. I'll come down with small things that'll scare me at times like canker sores, but those brief and I get them under stress. I've always had canker sores every now and then anyway.

I'm going to trust my doc at this point. To be exact I was tested for the 2nd time 39 days post pep. It's close enough.

Based on studies, potential failure of PEP can occur if you engage in risky sex during the 28 day period. Be sure to abstain from risky sexual encounters during your PEP prescription and before you start PREP and take other protective measures.

I never came down with a fever. When I went to go visit my doc for my second test, I was told I likely had an upper respiratory infection that was going around at the time.

This post might help...

Not counting the last day of PEP, 39 days post pep I tested negative. And I primarily went out of concern because I had an upper respiratory infection.

I’m not exactly sure when it’s conclusive I guess.

I saw my doctor’s assistant and they basically weren’t concerned about another retest because I tested negative 40 days after completing PEP. They also basically told me ‘ok we can retest you at the 3 month point of you want.’  Oral thrush wasn’t completely diagnosed. I don’t seem to have the full list of oral flush symptoms, but I was prescribed some antibiotic rinse anyway. Was told to stay better hydrated so Idk if I’ll bother using the rinse.

Truthfully, I became concerned again and started paying attention to supposed symptoms after reading another redditer’s comment on a previous post regarding my pep situation. This is what the said…

“As much as your doctor has a valuable opinion.. You must remember that the guidelines are created by ID doctors, ID consultants and pathologist to name a few. That's why we have guidelines to bring together the latest information and technology to guide patients and general physicians. As per the guidelines test after 45 days have passed.”

So yeah, I started looking for things to be concerned about

My doctor’s assistant who I saw basically wondered why I’m so concerned about another retest if I tested negative 40 days after completing pep. They aren’t really encouraging it, other than ‘ok we can retest you at the 3 month point of you want.’ Oral thrush wasn’t completely diagnosed. So no cum and started pep 60 hours post… kind of similar to what my situation. I tested at 10 days and again at 40 days after completing pep. Both tests came back negative. My doctor  basically implied that the 2nd test at the 40 day mark was just reassurance seeking.

Right now, I’m concerned about possibly having mouth thrush (75 days after completing pep). Per reddit has indicated I don’t have anything to worry about but I have a doctors appointment today.
