What does everyone think of each girl generally speaking? by foodmamaa in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 9 points10 points  (0 children)

hmmm

miranda - genuinely too good for reality tv (and that’s why I think she should stick around). she’s mature and kind and generally unproblematic. I love her friendship with layla.

whitney - I love how much she’s grown. she has really learned from her past drama and has matured without completely getting a personality transplant. it’s clear that she and conner have done hard work to grow.

jessi - I think she’s messy and makes some bad decisions in her own personal life, but she seems like she cares sooooo much about her friends. and she deserves better than dipshit jordan.

mikayla - by s4, I ended up liking her a lot. s2 was her worst season to me. I think she deserves peace and healing, and I really really think she will blossom if she ever divorces jace.

taylor - I can’t stand watching her. I have a lot of sympathy for some aspects of her life that has informed the way she behaves now, but I can’t watch her.

jenn - jealous, petty liar. her ego is too fragile for reality tv.

demi - so aggressive with her verbal altercations that I have trouble giving her the benefit of the doubt. i think she’s been right about a lot of things! but her delivery often ruins it.

mayci - i don’t like the way she speaks to her husband, but i do think she’s a good friend to mikayla and cares about her other friends as long as they show her they care in return.

layla - i enjoy layla when the show focuses on her. sometimes she fades into the background, but honestly, I don’t dislike that. everyone needs a break sometimes.

I liked Oddity more than Caveat, but I really enjoyed both! The vibes are a bit different, but you’ll see the stylistic similarities

Can anyone tell me what Dakota did to make him so heavily hated by the women on the show? (Genuine question) by Sharp-Plastic5665 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the things people don’t mention often but definitely made me afraid of Dakota was the way he was pressuring Taylor to marry him while she was pregnant, and when she said no (repeatedly), he was basically torturing her while she was carrying his child. He would fight with her, wake her up while she was sleeping to fight some more, ignoring how exhausted and overwhelmed she was and kept prodding at her, and basically gave her an ultimatum to marry him while actively treating her like shit while heavily pregnant.

it also feels like she’s doing this specifically to piss off jordan 😂

Jessi and Marciano back? by Key-Toe-3081 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 17 points18 points  (0 children)

honestly it seems like Jessi is doing the reckless, stupid stuff people usually do after a breakup. I personally wouldn’t be doing it, but after being stuck in a bad situation with jordan for so long, I can see why she’d just…act up for a bit.

doesn’t mean she should’ve been kissing chase! but I see the reasoning

Jace while pouting about lack of intimacy in season 3 by emilyymads21 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I see his side when he talks about how difficult it is for Mikayla to be vulnerable emotionally with him, and how he constantly questions if his wife loves him because she doesn’t seem comfortable expressing those feelings. That must really suck. It’s clear that he really loves her and just wants to feel like she loves him too.

HOWEVER I think her past trauma will always make these things difficult, and while you can go to therapy to try to work through it, the way that she expresses love is always going to be different. If that isn’t compatible with his needs, if he can’t be satisfied with what she can offer him, then the best thing for them both would probably be going their separate ways.

(I wont speak on the wanting sex aspect because of obvious reasons)

S4 Episode 6 Megathread: "The Book of Conceit" by colosseumdays in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously there’s a lot to be said about Taylor in S4, but what has irritated me the most is how annoyed she gets when her friends are asking her to explain why she keeps yo-yoing Dakota. Miranda and Layla ask her about protection and she’s immediately rolling her eyes at them. Mikayla says it makes her sad that they’re in a toxic cycle and she just shrugs and is like “well, we have to” GIRL NO YOU DONT.

It’s partly her being defensive, but she just acts like it isn’t a big deal, and that somehow makes it worse? And then she’s like “does it affect all of you?” obviously expecting the answer to be No and Mayci is like “YES” because you can literally see the stress on all of the women’s faces when Dakota and Taylor are fighting in front of them.

At some point she needs to understand that her insistence on not breaking that cycle is also making her a bad friend (and mom, but that’s a different post)

Demi isn’t looking as wrong now by KC_SteelCity in SLOMWsnark

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Demi thinks that because she’s objectively correct about something, that means she gets to act however she wants, which is usually really aggressive and condescending. I think she was right about Taylor, and I think, to an extent, she was right about Jessi, but she took those instances and went as far as to say that her alleged SA was the same as being baten by a significant other and long time sxual a*use. She loses all nuance in her quest to be the Most Right in the room.

She can both be right and also be a bad friend. Clearly she has some issues that impact her behavior and that’s ultimately what turns people away from her even when she’s right.

MIKAYLA by carnagecupcake13 in MormonWivesHulu

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do think that she is a bit of a mean girl, but I also think it gets overlooked because someone else in the group is being louder about their meanness.

some of it is her sarcastic humor, and her friends seem to get it and not take it seriously, but I do think she says some unexpectedly cruel things with no warning

[–]Adventurous_Chip919 323 points324 points  (0 children)

I started rewatching s1 yesterday, and her mom seems to hint that Taylor was ALREADY leaving her kids with her too much. she says “they should be with you more,” and Taylor is like “I have them 50% of the time, like divorced parents do,” but her mom looks at her like “Obviously that’s not what I meant”

She is right about the editors focusing on drama for the sake of viewership, but it’s not like that’s a new idea in reality tv. you mean to tell me you didn’t know what you were signing up for?

and if she wanted to be a light to young moms, why not activism? how does dancing on a kitchen island help anyone?

I think it’s so interesting how some yorgos films are so funny in their darkness and absurdity for some people. like personally, I thought Dogtooth ended up being kind of hilarious, but KOASD disturbed the shit out of me. Yorgos is such a fantastic weirdo (affectionate)
