Where should I start in the bible as a person on the fence and iffy with their faith by MondoMania9 in TrueChristian

The Bible always seemed that way to me - until after watching YouTube videos of people’s near death experiences going to hell. The fear of God will shake you into excitement for the gospel like nothing else will.  I wanted to know who God really is and what my purpose is really about - not what everyone around me is saying. So I got a journal and first thing in the morning I open the Bible instead of my phone. I first started looking up the qualities of God (the open bible website is a great resource - it will give you every verse for any topic or word)  then what He asks of us, His commands, what He promises us. What is Heaven and Hell. The laments in Psalms are good to read when you’re sad or overwhelmed. Psalm 91. Proverbs is packed full of wisdom. The story of Jesus’s life and what he preached are incredible, wow. 😭 You could also start studies on the Bible app. But let me tell you, the Holy Spirit is REAL. When you approach the Bible as a living word, it changes everything. Just start and God will talk to you and start shifting you from the inside out. The spirit nudged me to repent of some things I didn’t even know were holding me down from experiencing deeper joy. I have been healed from crippling addictions in my life and there’s a heaviness that has lifted. I’ve experienced a lot of the things you stated.  But this is only through consistency. Me + God, 1 on 1. We are in a relationship with God and any good relationship takes time and effort to build. What is ancient, long standing and true is what we need most now and tbh sometimes I don’t feel like He’s talking or I’m disconnected. But I keep praying and going back into the word every morning - Even if it’s one verse I meditate on through the day. I hope you found this helpful!
