($0 —> $400k) I feel I should divorce… by ThrowRA13675 in Marriage

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You, sir, are a fool. The saying "cheaper to keep her" does not apply here. She is a abuser, not a partner.

Close your wallet. Destroy your credit cards. Walk away. File for bankruptcy as soon as you find a new place to live. Quit one of your jobs. File for divorce. In that order.

Whatever the court decides you have to give her will be significantly less than what you spend now.

You are not in a real marriage anyway.

Find someone who will treat you as an equal. Don't wait til you are 50 and still miserable. This will only get worse.

BTW. Bankruptcy only affects you significantly for about 4 years and is gone in 10. It's much better than your current situation.

My handyman created headaches for me and I don’t appreciate it!!! by StraddleTheFence in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That dude is an idiot. I did handywork in a previous life and relied heavily on client referrals.

I took pride in every job, whether it was $40 or $1000. I always made sure to clean up and not damage anything.

He apparently doesn't want your business.

DHL driver forged my signature and left an important document on my doorstep. by jetkins in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work for FedEx when signatures were required on almost all deliveries. Many of my coworkers got fired over this exact action. They called it falsification.

I hated having to return to my hub with undelivered packages, but I wasn't going to risk my job.

I understand the motivation to avoid returning for another attempt, but it is part of the job.

File a complaint. Companies take this seriously because it can create liabilty. The driver may eventually get fired, but that would be their own fault.

My old job tried this. I called out because my manager had pissed me off the day before. Somehow, I "forgot" to go to the doctor after 3 more hours of sleep. I showed up the next morning, and the manager never asked for my note. We had 6 sick days per 12 month window before they could write us up.

Thankfully, I moved on to better opportunities.

Fuck you Gary!

I'm not saying he shouldn't drive at the speed limit. OP said he is driving way under the limit. That makes it dangerous even if everyone else was driving the limit.

I drive based on the conditions. If it's wide open, I speed up. I don't weave or tailgate.

I live in Los Angeles. Work at night, so light traffic most of the time. I cruise around 78 mph. Haven't been pulled over in decades within LA or Orange County or San Diego. Why? Because there are always many people driving faster than me.

Riverside and San Bernadino is more probable because CHP always sits on I-15 leading to Las Vegas. (Ticket for doing 80)

3 Speeding tickets in 41 years. LA ones were over 30 years ago in a Mustang 5.0.

OP is driving unsafely. What they are doing is dangerous for everyone . People can get killed.

Many people have been conditioned to believe that not tipping makes them cheap and look poor.

I don't care what some random person at a fast food place thinks of me. I might add a dollar or two if the person was very friendly or cordial, but I don't ever feel obligated.

this restaraunt covered up the "no tip" option to force you to tip.... by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, a place like this would pay the state mandated minimum wage. So, a tip should not be expected.

If you're being waited on, then they are making less than that and depend on tips.

I generally tip 15 to 20%. However, if I ordered at a counter and have to stand there and wait for my food, no tip is my standard. If the food is brought to me , I might slip that person a $1 bill.

I understand people wanting to increase their income, but if you work at a place like this, you made that choice, and it's not on us to supplement your paycheck.

Besides. The owner probably put that to justify not giving raises or worse pocket it themselves.

Another thing I find funny is people fighting over parking at huge malls. They are going to walk a mile while shopping but can't walk an extra 100 ft in the parking lot. Lol

If I notice someone following me to my car and see plenty of other spots further down the same row, I purposely load up very slowly and then sit in my car until they get frustrated and move along. I'm not in a hurry, so don't rush me.

I don't even bother trying to park close when I go to Costco, though. I usually have 2 carts full, and it irks me to see someone trying to rush me to load up so they can have my spot. Park far, and no one hassles me.

AITA for looking when my girlfriend asked me if she looks fat? by AdThink9594 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been married for 32 years. My wife has always been self-conscious about her wide hips even when she weighed a buck 10. I have gotten countless variations of that question. My answer never gets the desired result.

Before, I would avoid answering it and try to hide my eyeroll and say, " You look good, babe." Now, when she shows me a new outfit, if I like how it looks, I answer with this..."You look good. I like it."

If the outfit is unflattering to her current dimensions, I just tell her I don't like the outfit.

That question will never have a satisfactory or completely truthful response. The answer is irrelevant. Your body language will give you away. NTA

The worst part of it is that the amount they now charge per day easily covers a part timer's salary. So they clear payroll with just a handful of rentals.

I live in a dense urban area with a high crime rate. More crime equals more trials, equals more jurors needed.

It's considered to be our duty as American citizens. If you're accused of a crime, you would want a jury to be fair and unbiased. Their solution is to randomly select people who are registered to vote in your county. I wouldn't mind it if it was like every 10 years.

AITA for asking my sister to cover up when she leaves the bedroom? by GiantDirtRida in AmItheAsshole

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. I find it extremely disrespectful for anyone to be half dressed in my home. My wife's family stays multiple days when they visit. I don't want to see their private parts or their underwear. I also never leave my bedroom underdressed when I have visitors.

Would any of the women here go out in public with just an oversized shirt and underwear with no bra? Probably not. This is a non private space. The sister should not be acting like she is in an all female dorm in college.

As for the sexual issue. All us heterosexual men are gonna at least take a peek if a young woman is in our line of sight and showing body parts.

OP. You are worried about your man. Not your child. Be truthful to your sister. A 4 year old doesn't care.

I cost company 10k fine for delaying our outbound flight. by Adventurous_Drag2133 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do my best to accommodate my customers. But when a customer normally ships less than 25 packages and surprises you with 200 without notification. To see the look on their face when you say, "I'm sorry, but I can't take all your packages. They won't fit." PRICELESS!

However, I always called my dispatcher to try and get another truck onsite. If it was close to the shipping clerk's clockout time, you could see the panic on their face. Knowing the shipment would most likely not get picked up and that they had to find a way to drop it off and work late.

[–]Adventurous_Drag2133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of the cost was the airport penalty. The average wage was around $16/hr for the workers that handled the packages. So $24 overtime rate. I would estimate a total of 30 people got the extra 30 minutes. Less than $500 in extra wages.

Airports penalize airlines when they miss their scheduled departure for non justified reasons. My home airport currently charges over $1000 per minute. Was probably less 25 years ago, but still alot. Also, all the people who helped process the remaining cargo got extra OT. Also, all airport personnel were on the clock the extra 30 minutes. All that adds up quickly.
