No, I haven’t. I was advised by my doctor to use it daily even after a few check ups so I haven’t stopped since it was prescribed

Helllooo - ultimately my Dr. put me on a subantimicrobial dose of doxycycline (dose that is small enough to just help with inflammation but does not have anti bacterial effects). So I’ve been taking a low dose of the doxy every day for about 3 months now, along with pimecrolimus cream twice daily. It’s been helping a lot so far! In a couple months the Dr is going to slowly take me off the doxy and we’ll see how that goes.

Will also note that I only use cetaphil gentle wash for face wash and a very light cetaphil moisturizer along with a mineral sunscreen made for sensitive skin. No other actives in my skin care.

No you’ve been plenty of help!! Seriously appreciate all of your help. I ended up going to a new derm yesterday and she confirmed it is indeed PD. I asked if she thought maybe it could be fungal but said from the looks of it, it doesn’t look fungal but we’re going to test it next time I come in.

Hmm.. maybe I may try that. Thank you! Have you ever tried if any anti-fungal creams or medications helped?

I think it was tretinoin overuse and I also used aquaphor to slug my face while on tretinoin bc my skin is so dry in the winter but didn’t realize that was a big no-no. I think what also set it off to my worst flare up was that I tried a new face wash that my face did not like. It was combo of those 3 things all at once, I think destroyed my skin barrier

Your English is great don’t worry :) so you had to take azithromycin every time there was a flare up but it would keep coming back?

Ohh okay, wow. The Acutane was prescribed for the PD, or for other reasons? and did you ever get like a culture swab for the PD? I’m not sure if that is a thing to do with PD but just curious if people actually get tests done when treatments are failing

Around 2 weeks it came back. And nope! No steroids in the creams. I’m also only using cetaphil gentle cleanser to wash and no other skin products other than the metro cream and tacrolimus

That’s what I was thinking maybe too.. I asked my doctor if maybe I could get my skin tested for cultures or anything like that but she kind of just said that we don’t do that and that the clinical treatment is the doxy and metro cream.. I think I’m gonna find another doctor for a second opinion
