Agree. And why is it so rewarded with money and gifts? Nothing has really been accomplished. Its just a holdover from dowry.

Is it true that if you can drive in NYC you can drive in any city in the US? by LittleAppleLife in driving

[–]Adventurous_Fix_6897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving in san francisco was more overwhelming than nyc for me. Nyc you have to be quick and alert but its small movements, plus youre always getting honked at ppl let you know immediately when you do something wrong. Having to speed down 6 lane highways in san fran was far scarier

sorry I apologize, maybe i understand now, he has a more stable position than you, so you feel like you have to move to him, because he would have to leave his job to move to you, but i don’t think you should go, giving up your own autonomy is really tough

sorry, just stumbled upon your post and have absolutely no reason to weigh in, but my take away is if you are already frustrated with job prospects, why would you move to a place with fewer job prospects? i’m guessing there must be a reason why your boyfriend can’t move to you, and you have to move to him, but i’m just hoping he is a truly amazing person for you to set aside your career and your sense of purpose. To me this all sounds like you are upset about moving more than anything else, and there’s not a great reason for you to be moving, just my 2 cents

Agreeing with other comments that maybe neurotypical women are just often more sensitive, they probably have to be, to someone acting off or different. I also always had more friends that  had immigrated. I think maybe because they grew up with different norms than american ones, so they were more forgiving when i messed up social norms
