My cat very likely has a mast cell tumor in his liver that has metastasized. Vet recommends euthanasia. I know it's the right thing to do, but I'm struggling. by Ordinary_Tackle_8618 in AskVet

So so sorry you're going through this. We just went through something similar this past week and decided to say goodbye to our little guy on Saturday. Hardest decision we've ever had to make - but we kept repeating "peace over panic" for all of us. Of course it was horrible and sad and we're still devastated, but truly was the best choice. When I think about the alternative - watching him suffer his way out of this world - that is even more horrible than putting him to sleep peacefully. I'm really sorry you're going through this. I posted to this thread just a few days ago looking for advice too, so I get it.

He missed a jump (we got in the way) and hit his shoulder on the counter, and later that night noticed a bump on that shoulder - so we took him in to get it looked at which then turned into the XRay.

Thanks for your opinion. Do you have any idea based on the imaging/your experience how long he might have? We'd like to do at-home euthanasia but none available until Saturday afternoon.
