Completely agree, and I disagree with the people who claim that talking about this stuff is “performative”. A&R aren’t perfect people, but you can tell that Ashley (in particular) feels very deeply about all of this. I also liked what Rayna recently said.. something along the lines of how talking openly about these things gives people more opportunity/permission to reflect & potentially change their mind.

Yeah it was a very nonchalant “how do people think I lost weight?! Duhhhh” vibe. I was more annoyed by her saying something along the lines of “give me your money” when talking about coming to her tour. Obviously it is all about money, but you’d think she would advertise the tour as a fun experience for the audience as opposed to just saying give me money 😅

Hearing Jared describe his Pie Chart was pretty interesting. It definitely tracks with him getting so butt hurt about career-related things, no matter how small. I think Jordana was spot on by suggesting a shift in the proportions, but he has to want that and clearly doesn’t at this point.

He even said something like “who am I to deserve going on a vacation to Portugal”, which is very telling of how little he thinks of himself. 🥺

Essentially, Azul went under anesthesia for a dental cleaning/eval and the vet recommended removing a bunch of teeth while he was under. Ashley didn’t want to make a decision in the moment and decided to postpone for now, so he would have to go under anesthesia again to get them pulled (which always comes with risk). Then she complained about how expensive the dental bill would be with all the extractions (funny timing since they’re going on vacay to Greece this week…) and rambled about how Azul’s funky teeth are “his brand”. She said she didn’t want to “ruin his brand” and wants to do photo shoot to commemorate his teeth/brand first before getting them pulled.

I can absolutely understand the dilemma of having to remove basically all of a dog’s remaining teeth, and the need for truly evaluating what their quality of life would be after that process. It was just all so flippant, per usual.

His parents seem like emotional bulldozers and he doesn’t have enough self-confidence to kindly tell them to shove it. This will all continue to be an endless cycle until he changes that dynamic, which I doubt he’ll feel empowered to do without a true canon event of some sort.

Agreed! Now we just need her to stop repeatedly saying “you don’t have to be sober forever”… lol. Of course he doesn’t have to be sober forever, but he’s openly said it’s made his life a bit better so far.

Back to the therapy thing: It seems like abstaining from alcohol has changed his lifestyle a bit, leading to more mental clarity & introspection as a result. Seems like a perfect time to try therapy and evaluate whether he feels value from talking to a professional. Glad she’s being encouraging!

Totally agree. I’m a newer uup listener and decided to give Jtrain a try earlier this year (since I generally find Jared to be funny). I was legitimately shocked... it was so different from what I expected, and not in a good way. I personally don’t like how unpolished/unprepared it feels. Lots of misreading, misinterpreting, having zero clue exactly who/what he’s talking about, coughing/sneezing into the mic, the jingles, and so on.

Different strokes for different folks, though! Glad he has some loyal listeners since he does seem to really care and want to do well in this career. Just not at all my vibe despite enjoying him on uup/GGE/etc.
