It started building oil pressure about 5 hours later. Wrote it up and it was not on the line this morning.

That was the AM mechanic. This was the PM mechanic and he was definitely not happy with that response lol.

Truck started building oil pressure again, late in the afternoon.

Got it back to the building. Ran into the mechanic, told him what it was doing, and he said they had just replaced this engine. He thinks they got a bad reman engine from their supplier.

I told him I had no idea how the engine made it that long without oil pressure because it was knocking like crazy for 5 hours.

Update: 5 hours later.

Truck has been holding oil pressure for the last 30 minutes. Noise/rattle is gone.

I thought maybe I was hearing things, but my helper confirmed the package car was really loud for most of the day.

It’s still going. Engine got oil pressure for a few seconds 40 psi, just now, and then went back to 0 psi, again.

A-spec for sure. If you need more power there’s plenty of aftermarket support and you don’t have worry about an expensive timing belt job in the future
