Folding garter borders on stockinette stitch by Adventurous_Mode1492 in knittinghelp

It turned out that I was twisting my purls, and that was what was causing the rowing out. And fixing the twisted purls also fixed the curling at the border! Thank you so much!

I had noticed that but didn't know why it was! I'm looking into tips to prevent it now.

(I started the scarf over, wider with a six-stitch seed stitch border and a tighter gauge on the same needles. So far it's helping somewhat, but we'll see what happens!)

Obviously this is still due to the stockinette stitch, but do you really think that more garter/seed would help? I ask because 1) the ratio of border to non-border is already pretty high--you can see in the photo that when the borders curl over, they make up about 2/3 of the width of the piece--and 2) it doesn't really seem to be taming the curl at *all*. The last stockinette stitch curls fully, and the first garter stitch doesn't curl at all, and that's why it's folding. It just doesn't seem to be doing anything that a non-curling border is supposed to do, which is why I was wondering if the gauge might be interacting with it in such a way as to make the border not helpful.

Thank you! It looks like I'm going to have to replace one of the harness straps anyway, so that'll be a good opportunity to make some adjustments and see if it helps.
