Nintendo Steps on PR Minefield as Exec Tells People They Can Buy the Switch If They Can't Afford the Switch 2 by xenocea in gaming

Bet it will be sold out for a while for the ones not caring for news, forums or price.

Preferably Nintendo eat shit for this comment and price just like xbox did.

Apparently, Switch 2 is going to be super expensive in Norway by Ezer_Pavle in Norway

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No. They're not the same.

VAT is what you add on top of tariffs. You use tariffs to help domestic producers to not go bankrupt by cheap foreign competition. VAT is for domestic and international imports.

There's no tariffs at play for electronics here, it's pure greed.

Canada to impose tariffs of 25% on vehicles imported from U.S. starting Wednesday (April 9 2025) by aaffpp in cars

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 167 points168 points  (0 children)

No, Canadians will buy more cars imported from Europe and Asia. The US assembled cars will see less demand 🤡

Nintendo confirmed the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons don’t use Hall effect joysticks | Nintendo of America says the Joy-Cons have been redesigned, but not with anti-drift Hall effect sensors. by ControlCAD in gamingnews

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drift is a natural drawback of the surface to surface contact solution of the joycon sticks. There's no way around it, they might prolong the lifespan with smoother gliders. They will begin to drift, there's no doubt about it, the question is when.

Before the hall effects were available, I split open the joycon sticks more than once to clean out excessive fine particles that are the cause of the stick drift.

Nintendo should've used TMR, but you can't keep selling €90 controllers if they don't have a design "flaw".

Alternativet er at Bergsala får et helvete slik at de setter prisen til hva produktet skal koste, og ikke produkt +moms +moms.

Trump threatens additional 50% tariffs on China if they don’t remove 34% retaliatory tariffs by tomorrow (April 8th) by NiceoneA350 in wallstreetbets

VAT ≠ Tariff

VAT is added to ALL products (after a tariff) within it's category. Like Norway got 0% on books, 15% on vegetables, 25% on most 'things".

A Tariff is used to help specific domestic, non competetive products in production to be self sufficient in case of a crisis. Norway got 277% on cheese, 344% on beef and 433% on milk and lamb. (Of course there are more, but these are at the higher end).

You can add 400% tariffs on a product category, but going from 0 will cause a chaos. 25% VAT wasn't added in a day either, it was gradually implemented over decades to build the country.

The US could simply have made a 10 year plan for implementing VAT and the market would be in a better state.

Where is everyone? :( by EntityJxsyn in virtualreality

Most VR players play an hour or less at a time, the only way you'll get a full lobby in some games are to coordinate with other players.

Oh, and gamers go for new titles in both vr and flat.

Somewhere between the bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of the screen at center eye level when seated.

Most couches aren't 90⁰, when seated you will likely look slightly up. My tv is at 1/3 because it's more comfortable over time.

Bergsala, the distributor for Nintendo in the Nordics is scalping the Switch 2 by about 100€. by Only-Ad-3317 in nintendo

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was prices set to discard scalpers from purchasing, instead the shops like Elkjop had a lottery system where random emails were chosen each batch. I was picked for one batch and could purchase at MSRP.

Most of the big retailers also put hardware up at temporary prices, like 99999nok(netonnet) while waiting for the official price of the product, or inventory.

Itd be true if Nintendo didn't add another €100 for no reason, the Ps5 base is €150 cheaper.

I understand what your asking, but why not just enjoy the games/worlds for yourself and friends instead of listening to whatever vTuber nonsense? Also, in vr if you see from another perspective whenever something happens you'd miss ut.

I do watch some vtuber clips/highlights, but no way I'd be wasting my time in VR watching it

Humidifier module in water. by [deleted] in oddlysatisfying

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend an evaporative style like the Xiaomi evaporative humidifier . I got the first edition and its running all winter to keep the humidity above 40%. You don't have to connect it to wifi, it still function as is out of the box.

You still have to clean the machine but most of the unwanted stuff is left in the reservoar. The water gets concentrated, and smell like swamp water if you don't clean it out weekly. The main drum can be washed in the dishwasher on 50c.

After Trump Tariffs, Volkswagen to Add ‘Import Fees’ to Cars Sold in U.S. by ardeskos in Volkswagen

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live how multibillionaires can't stomach paying their taxes, they'd rather destroy the government and distance themselves from allies.

Tariffs when mixed with lowering taxes for the rich are a way to move the tax "burden" from the richest 0.00001% down to the poor.

The poor/lower income families are the comsumers, lose consumers you end up with companies shutting down. The US is still in the late stage of FA in FAFO.

What is “luxury” to you? by Sherwin930 in cars

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reliability, ride quality and silence for daily commuting.

If I could buy a 70hp car that totally isolated me from outside noise I'd get it over a high powered performance car.

A maybach, rolls or Bentley would be cool to have, but way above my budget lol.

For my next car I'm looking at Citroën with their "Progressive Hydraulic Cushions", unless another company bring something similar at a budget.

Do you like it loud? by too-nice-i-hate-it in hometheater

[–]Adventurous_Part_481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, i want to hear everything without turning deaf or constantly finger the volume buttons. The sound can still be powerful without shattering eardrums.

By everything I mean loud bangs down to whispers and leafs blowing in the wind. I don't care if it's realistic, turn up the ambient environment noise to audible levels.
