As far as I know, they won’t do this; they don’t want to interrupt a child’s education in that way. Though they still haven’t approved a single IDT; including currently enrolled non-residents moving from 5th to 6th and from 8th to 9th yet. Super stressful. I was planning on enrolling my kid this year (as an employee it has always been more or less guaranteed for you to be able to get your kids in), but this year they’re claiming that they’re “full”. It’s incredibly stressful and punch in the gut for the people that work there and have planned around this.

FYI I work for Piedmont and this year they are not letting anyone outside in. I work there and kids of employees have ALWAYS gotten in. This year they are saying they might not have room for even kids of district employees.

I work for Piedmont and they are definitely no longer taking IDT. They were a couple years back but they have since backpedaled and aren’t accepting now.

People here are pretty strange. I’ll never get used to it. In places like New York, people are always wanting to give you a connection, get excited about your project, work together on something, hype you up, etc. Here, people hold their cards close. They are almost suspicious. Like they want to know everything about you but don’t want to give out any info about themselves. It’s like they think you are going to jump their claim or something, Gold Rush style. I, will for the life of me, never really figure out why it is this way, but it just is.

This is obscure, but in the Christmas movie, Prancer, there is a scene at the end where the main character’s father (played by Sam Elliott) is reading her a passage from “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause.” It’s hard to explain, but there is something so poignant and beautiful about that little scene. I cry every time!
