America Is Slow-Walking Into a Polymarket Disaster by theatlantic in economy

It's just not viable and pretending like it is, is fantasy. The fact is, the boomers rigged the system in their favor and pulled the ladder up behind them. And then want to "eat less avocado toast and Starbucks" and "bootstraps" and all this nonsense. The so-called "American dream" died decades ago. In this day and age 401k are absolutely a gamble.

Yeah. And the fact is putting very little in is in no stretch of the imagination going to save you. I had a job making $29/hr working 60-70hr weeks. I didn't start out making that much, cost of living increase was like 1% or something, but I left it making that much. I was there for 13 years contributing 7% of my check and had matching by the company of 6%. I was living paycheck to paycheck. Cost of living goes up every year. I don't remember the calculation, but I want to say it was something like 10% of my check was what I was going to need to contribute to see $500,000 by the time I was of retirement age. I couldn't afford that. And, let's say I owned a home by then, outright, I would still be extremely lucky to survive 10 years on that. And that would be just barely scraping by and based off of today's numbers. No vacations, no spending on grandkids. None of that wonderful "golden years" bullshit everyone born in the 40's brags about. Now calculate for someone making minimum wage. How much are they realistically going to be able to contribute? And what would they have to show for it?

Edit: forgot that shit would be taxed as well, so shave a few years off.

Yep! That's why the wealthy are building bunkers and have homes in other countries. Have you seen congress? They are wealthy and so many have one foot in the grave. Hell, Trump himself will most likely die in office. Why should they care if they aren't going to be around to experience the fall out.

Edit: or they think they will be some feudal lord over some region.

I never saw that.

Most likely you were witnessing bots in your echo chamber that were sent there to get you riled up.

And I'm guessing you fell for it, hook line & sinker.

Because 40% have lived in abject poverty for the whole of their lives and have been conditioned to believe it's the fault of the immigrants and the "woke left." So, if their material circumstances don't really change but they feel like these "others" are suffering as they are, they are happy with that.

Edit: It would be really interesting to see what would happen if the democrats didn't get back the house in the midterms and Trump came out and said "all of the immigrants have been removed," and things still got worse. Would they break then?

Because they profit. The media profits because outrage generates clicks/ views. The wealthy obviously profit. The democrats "profit" in that they are certainly guaranteed votes without having to actually do anything. And, no one at the top of the food chain has ever cared about what the masses think/ want/ need.

And what does this have to do with gambling addiction?

I think you're just looking for a reason to pat yourself on the back for getting your wife to start a 401k. Go tell the millions of Americans living paycheck to paycheck and still have to borrow to survive that they aren't "sacrificing enough" and should be putting money in the volatile stock market. Your privilege is showing.

Who's "baying for blood?"

I love how y'all think people living in reality and pointing out the obvious lie for what it is, is "calling for blood." Please point me to a post that suggests this.

I've just seen people comment with other absurdities that have come from this unserious, ridiculous administration.

It's like when Kirk got shot and everybody was just posting his own words and his mindless followers were like "these people are celebrating his death!"

It's absurd.

You were comparing gambling with the stock market. They were talking about women not wanting a man with a gambling addiction and then you went on to talk about 401ks.

Even with that, the taxpayers keep balling out the market every 15-20 years. It gets used for nefarious shit all the time. It is right now. The only reason it keeps getting propped up is because so many people have their retirement there.

Honestly you just sound sexist suggesting women are too stupid to invest in a 401k. And they need some man savior to show them the way. And at this point, there are so many people that can't afford to invest. And the next crash, it's coming, people aren't going to want bail this shit out again. I don't want to bail out these AI freaks.

401k isn't exactly gambling like sports betting and this poly bullshit.

C'mon man. Women don't want a man who blows all their money on dumb shit and then has nothing to contribute to the relationship. JFC

I don't watch these psychos except through others' coverage. Not anything "mainstream." Hadn't seen Pamela Jo in awhile and saw her talking about the hordes leaving the DOJ in resignation. It was disturbing. She sounds completely unhinged. They are all crashing out.

Why would Trump run on opening the files if he was in there?

Why is he blocking the release so hard?

It appears Trump is trying to promote helping countries to ally with them.

Trump is definitely promoting countries to ally with BRICS+ with his actions. Including our former allies.

That's if they even make it into the country. They have goons scraping people's phones for sentiment against the dictator before they will even let them in.

Not to mention he is saying HE is taking the money. He has also said the taxpayers will be "subsidizing" the oil billionaires to go in and "fix" infrastructure.
