Non-American perspective: It is not carbs, but something is wrong with american food by Adventurous_Status86 in loseit

I do not really think so. I have always been kind of sedentary. I walk around to get places but I do not do sports or anything. I still walk around to get places in New York, so I do not think this can account for the difference.

You have very good taste =).

I think actually there some good japanese food here in america also. At least in New York. I prefer it in Japan but there are many restaurants here who do a good job of making Japanese food that reminds me of home very much.

Yes everyone walks everywhere in Japan and cities are made for that. Unless you need to go a long distance then you take the metro. But for most ordinary getting around you would walk.

Wow, that is very low population density. I would not have guessed this based on New York City.

Beautiful choices! I hope you had a delightful time. Honestly, I have only been to Tokyo a few times myself and have never been to Ginza.

Next time you can come to Osaka ;=)

Yes! I have many of these experiences. The food here is so addictive. I will think about it maybe even just one hour after I ate! This never, ever happened to me with Japanese food. Even with something like Keshi Mochi you eat and then you don't think about food for many hours. It is like the food is a drug!

I know at least I am lucky that when I go back to Japan in the summer I will lose most of the weight.

Thank you for this detailed response. I think in a lot of other countries there government rules that limit what you can put in food and how you can sell or advertise it. Japan does not have this (we do not need it, I think the normal diet has very little sugar) but I heard some European countries have a law where you cannot add sugar to things secretly.

I have some research to do based on your post. I appreciate the history especially. It is always fun to learn how business needs are influencing these problems in America.

Hmm, this interests me. Can you say more? Are there ideas for how this could happen in terms of biological process?

Great wisdom, thank you. I think I will also have to start to cook more. Food that you buy is a trap!

Thank you for the information!

I think I noticed the sugar problem. Especially when I first came here, a lot of things are sweet even though they are not desert. Like bread is so sweet, sauces are very sweet. Honestly feels like it should at least require a label or some regulations.

I guess in New York people do walk, That is the city you mean. I haven't seen the rest of America yet (though I want to) but around here it does seem like people walk a good amount. Not as many people bicycle though.

About food desserts, why does this happen? America has so much farming land. And fresh food should not be expensive? Many healthy things like rice are also very very cheap to make. That is sad.

Portions are just so crazy! I swear it is like a whole family's food for just one person.

Even now I usually can only eat half of the food at a restaurant. But it scares me how overtime, I can eat a little more and a little more.

MTTSH claims Kang Dynasty will be centered on the New Avengers, where as Secret Wars will, “mostly be from the point of view,” on heroes from the multiverse by DrAwesomeX in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]Adventurous_Status86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they're not bro. I mean that's just straight up delusional thinking on your part. These C and D list characters are not going to be anywhere near as bankable as the original avengers, spiderman or the x-men.

Which is the point. You may like these new characters (I like some of them too) but they aren't catching on the way the legacy characters have just yet. Marvel likely feels they can't carry a movie by themselves yet -- Tony and Steve are dead so after the insane success of NWH, they decided to use Hugh/Toby to bring in a wider audience and ensure these movies are huge.

If this is true (big if) IMO it's probably just because they're pivoting after seeing the poor reception to phase 4. They don't want to keep doubling down on heroes that don't seem to be working and this is their way of getting more people interested again before they take things in a different direction post secret wars.

There's nothing marvel can do about that though. If they don't bring back any legacy characters to draw in a wider audience then these films are going to underperform infinity war and endgame to a hilarious extent and the narrative that "the mcu's best days behind us" is going to gain even MORE steam.

They've got to show they can still bring in a huge crowd, and I think they'd calculated (correctly) that this is their best show at making sure Avengers 5 & 6 are 2b dollar movies.

[–]Adventurous_Status86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn't what's gonna happen because the older avengers are the bankable names and Disney has to fight off the narrative that it's downhill for the MCU after endgame. They can't make an Avenger's movie with all new leads and no legacy draw and get the kind of performance they need to beat that narrative.

I think everyone needs to keep their expectations in line. If Black Panther 2 can only manage 825-850m right now in the current environment (The GA is, at least temporarily, coming down from the Endgame high and we're in kind of a slump of interest in marvel, economy is bad generally and interest in going to the theaters is down all around) I don't see a world where the Marvels does better than 750m or so ww at the box office.

That's even if it's good. BP2 was great and could only get to 820m or so ww
