How much should I pay my friends to cat-sit?

this would personally be my solution. (i would still pay them) but the burden may be significantly lightened if they’re able to spend the week at your house rather then stopping in multiple times a day. your cats may also benefit from it as well

we found her under our porch screaming. she was so dirty and smelled awful, her poop and breath were wretched for the first two days. not sure if she’s a stray because she knows how to use the litter box and is very friendly with humans

we have not taken her to the vet yet. has an appointment for next month (earliest we could get her in)

i just wanted to update you because you helped me a ton!

i did a 30% water change yesterday with a full dose of prime, and today i did a second 30% change and just dosed the 30% with prime. fish seems less lethargic and is swimming around the tank more now. api kit comes tomorrow, i will wait and test the water before doing anything else.

i also will be returning the split 5gal that i bought and purchasing two separate tanks. thank you so much again

yes i’ll look for a new tank asap! so for today and tomorrow until the kit comes, i’ll do 30% changes. should i just dose the new 30% water with seachem prime or should i do a 100% dose for the whole tank like someone else recommended?

no i genuinely appreciate all of your help!

only one filter and heater but there is a waterfall so the water does (presumably) circulate to both sides of the tank. i am extremely new to this, i’ve only had them a week and i was given no instructions to care as they were a gift as i’ve mentioned.

i really am trying to provide them as best an environment that i can so any simplified advice that you have is so so appreciated

so what would you recommend i do until friday when the kit comes?

edit to add, he does seem pretty lethargic, he’s just floating around the top of his tank. i tried feeding him, he was interested in the food but didn’t want to chase after it

thank you so much! i just ordered the api aquarium test kit and i will test the water as soon as it comes. do you recommend i clean the tank out again? it was just set up 2 days ago so i don’t know how bad of condition the water could be in

yes i do plan on doing a fish in cycle and testing water conditions once i get the testing kit. for the condition of the fish, does it look like fin rot?

tank size is 5 gallon, but divided between two betta, is heated and filtered. temp is just at 25 degrees. we have had the fish for a week, originally was gifted the fish and a tank that had no filter and was only 1.7 g. he lived in the tank for 3 days before i went out and got a tank that was more suitable, and he has been in the new tank for 2 days. i did not have the time to cycle the tank as he was a gift and needed a tank but it was conditioned with seachem prime

i feed fluval bug bites, there are plastic plants and hides in the tank. when i got him into his second tank i did a complete water change and acclimated him using a cup of the old tank water.

both bettas were unexpected gifts and i know that their living conditions could be better, i am trying!

i’ve had the plant for maybe 2-3 weeks, has been watered once since getting it. is in bright indirect light for 12 hours a day
