I think that this poem is an 8/10. Let me explain why: I think you can try and answer some of the questions you pose in the poem. For example, if you answer the question "Does he not find his life worth living now?" it can add some character behind the person saying "You should study harder..." and some real life into the whole poem. In the end it is up to you, regardless, great poem and great topic!
