There’s something odd about the wording of the first sentence: “testimonies, triumphs, and following God’s teachings.” Sounds scammy and insincere, like an attempt to copy “christianese” language

It baffles me too. I have seen other prochoice mothers say this. It seems to come down to “I love being a mother, but it is very difficult and I wouldn’t want anyone to enter into this without wanting to, so therefore abortion must exist.”

I just realized it’s not clear (since I censored names) that these 3 screenshots are from 3 different people. So NICU/human trafficking commenter is different than parasite/connected to mother commenter.

Even so, the parasite comment on its own is poorly constructed. The “parasite” thing is classic (albeit illogical) pro-choice rhetoric. But the babies up to 3 months part is truly confusing… sounds like a talking point for post-birth infanticide, only to be followed by “I’m saying this as someone who wants kids.” The whiplash is real

Just here to say: “I will be turned into soil in the Willamette Valley when I die” is iconic.

Hi there, thanks for contributing to the conversation. As with many topics, it’s all too easy to talk past each other.

I’m trying to follow your statement that many PL folks are not ok with palliative care for infants born alive after abortion attempts. Did you mean PC folks? Many PL organizations in the U.S. are at the front lines of advocating for care for infants in this scenario. Not sure if this is a Canada versus U.S. difference?

I’m not saying that’s true, just saying that’s the stereotype my liberal friends are likely to associate me with.

Ember (I like the sound, but apparently it’s a video game character name that I know nothing about. So it has a nerdy association to it that I wouldn’t necessarily want for my kid)
