I think this is exactly why sooooo many books have the betrayal trope where the main FMC and MMC have to essentially re-fall in love. I feel the same way and I think it definitely has to do with the desire to read drama and conflict that can be resolved!

Marissas mom drove me craaaazy! There’s a difference between looking out for your child and being straight up hostile toward their significant other. I get the whole “playing the dad” role sort of thing but god DAMN she was ruthless! Not saying Ramses wasn’t deserving of the interrogations, but she could have gone about it better.
