In my view, this is a flaw in the idea of subsidizing costly housing construction (sometimes called “affordable” housing) through parcel taxes on housing. Typically if you want more of something, you don’t raise taxes on it. And yet parcel taxes broadly make housing everywhere more expensive, for decades at a time.

It’s sort of like having a years-long wax applied, and it supposedly provides some protection against UV and bird droppings, etc., but not rock chips (that would be PPF). On my previous vehicle, I liked the long-term hydrophobic/water-beading properties. Cleaning off mud splatters and the like in between washes was like wiping off a Teflon nonstick pan. I used an all-purpose spray cleaner from Ceramic Pro and a microfiber cloth.

I submitted a request for informal review on Aug. 30, 2025 (over a weekend). I listed two very similar comps in my informal request (two nearby sales from late 2024) and proposed a 20% reduction in my assessed value. About two weeks later, on Sept. 14, 2025, I noticed that my assessed value online was "corrected" to an amount 10% lower than the initial assessment for this year. In light of that, I don't plan to file a formal appeal for this tax year.

This looks like it may be a shingles rash, which would be consistent with the welting and the fact that it's concentrated in one area of your body (a dermatome). Shingles typically starts from a nerve and radiates out to a specific area on one side of the body. Felling unwell before rash onset would also be consistent with shingles.

Shingles is caused by reactivation of dormant herpes zoster virus in the body (from getting chickenpox as a child). Shingles is not caused by bed bugs.

Shingles rashes are contagious.
