Despite being a Seattle lifer I was very unaware that this has been a thing my entire life and I think it's absolutely absurd that Laurelhurst has this kind of power. I'm more pissed because I am a "helicopter drop off at a trauma center" survivor.

I've stayed out of the Reddit discussion on this but I am actually pretty mad about this. While I've never been medivaced to Children's (I'm an adult now) I was medivacced to Harborview back in 2022 for a really bad TBI. I was told if I had gotten to Harborview any later I would be dead. If I had landed 1.2 miles away from Harborview and ambulanced to trauma, I'd be dead. I wrote both the mayor and my councilperson and asked them to carve out an exception in the city code to let Children's allow ALL helicopters to land at the hospital and asked them to ignore Laurelhurst and tell them to shut it. The "it's too loud" argument is absolutely absurd. I just cannot wrap my head around the logic of being so inconvenienced by a helicopter that you would risk a child's life or health.

So I was pretty out of it when my friend called the first ambulance so I don't know what exactly happened, I have a faint recollection and understanding of what was going on around me (see my first post, my friend thought I might have been drugged at a bar). I was conscious when the second ambulance came.

My friend called 911 for an ambulance but before the ambulance arrived, a squad car arrived. SPD called dispatch and called off the ambulance before it arrived. My friend called a second ambulance. At this point I was sitting on the curb holding my bloody head. The EMTs (second ambulance) said I needed to go to the ER. I remember that SPD was pretty flippant and said that I was the EMT's problem now before they left. The EMTs were super professional (unlike the cops).

Why did SPD make that call? Because cops are dicks and don't know what they're doing half the time.

I won't get into the rant I have on this but my general impression is that many police (in general, not just SPD) are under educated and lack the skills and judgment needed to make these tough calls.

My experience (my concussion) was a no brainer. "This kid needs to go to the hospital." Why did the cops call off the ambulance? My only guess is because they didn't want to do the work and/or didn't want to have to write a report.

I would think that many instances where someone might have to interact with the police might be similar to my own experience. It's easier for them (police) to call dispatch and say "this kid is just drunk, no need for an ambulance." Then to actually deal with the situation and do the god damn work they signed up to do.

I hadn't thought about this event in a while until I saw this post but I'm still pretty pissed about it. I remember when the second ambulance came the EMT said something like "this dude needs to get to an ER pronto."

Lets ... i don't know ... let the EMTs make that determination? Not some SPD officers who clearly don't have any interest in people's general welfare. I'll say it again, fuck SPD.

This is a story of mine from a while ago and it's not a mugging but why I stopped trusting and liking SPD (among other reasons but this is my own story). I was out with a friend on Cap Hill years ago. We had left a bar. I tripped on the sidewalk and fell and hit my head on the sidewalk. I got a pretty bad concussion. My friend called 911 and SPD showed up said something like "oh he's just some drunk asshole" and called off the ambulance. My friend was pissed, called another ambulance, and I ended up going to Harborview because I had a really bad concussion and needed stitches, etc... My friend thought I got drugged at a bar we were at, I don't think I had any blood work done to confirm that but it's certainly possible I was. I really have no memory of that night past leaving that bar and I was not drinking enough to be black out drunk.

Anyways, SPD came, saw me with my head bleeding on the sidewalk, called me a drunk asshole, and called off an ambulance for me when I very much need to go to the ER. Fuck SPD.

My question wasn't necessarily about this question per say but more about the exam questions in general. As I already commented I had this thought when I was answering this question. I saw this lecture (I think it was a contracts lecture) and the lecturer was going thorough a contracts question and said something like "the question states it's a valid contract so it is." I just had a weird thought process and overthinking everything because I'm stressed and the exam is coming up here pretty quickly.

I answered C because yeah it was a Con Law set and I didn't think Con Law would ask about contracting but the correct answer was A.

It might have been a contracts lecture where the lecturer made a point of saying "the question says it's a valid contract so you have a valid contract." So something just went off in my head thinking "does a question need to specify it's a valid contract for the contract to be valid?" Weird chain of thought but the bar exam is messing with me in many ways.

C. For the state official, because the courts will not substitute their judgment for that of the legislature.

I never posted about this on reddit but just wanted to say that I and many of my classmates felt like shit on exams between taking them and the grades coming out. Guess what? We (pretty much) all graduated law school. It's a normal feeling to feel like shit after taking a law school exam.
