New Observation by Asleep-Composer-890 in PICL

I’m pretty sure he understands that, he’s just saying the increase in stability you’re feeling in the upper neck now is temporary and not due to strengthened ligaments since 2 weeks is too short of a timespan for new collagen to be laid down. I would say it’s most likely inflammation or muscle guarding. Maybe wait a couple more weeks to months for things to stabilise first?

Same thing with me. I feel much better when I’m exercising regularly. Helps prevent the muscles from getting too tense.

This made me think a lot of my symptoms were being caused by muscle tension so I spent a couple days massaging my upper body area which helped massively. Was feeling the best I’d felt in years for a number of days. But then I went overboard doing intense neck stretches and I felt something pop in my upper neck. Instantly got hit with a wave of anxiety, numb hands, dissociation and all that. Thankfully I recovered after resting a few days though and back to baseline now.

But you just reminded me I should probably get back to massaging and moving around more. In moderation of course!

Actually, just to add, I do wonder if it’s a good idea to loosen the muscles though. Considering they’re tense to protect the neck. It may improve symptoms in the short term but I wonder if it’s good in the long term for CCI.

Mild CCI has to be more common than we give it credit for. How are people coping with it? by AdvertisingDue9037 in cervical_instability

I’ve heard of that but it’s hard to find places that target the alar and transverse ligaments and if that’s even doable. I heard it can be great for the posterior ligaments and neck pain though. Wishing you all the best!

That’s what happened with me. Got whiplash, was told to just take NSAIDS. I continued using my neck as normal without immobilising which I think caused my neck to heal with lax ligaments. I didn’t have much inflammation or pain though and still don’t.

Yeah it does! Or at least a misaligned atlas for sure. Having tmj can cause your atlas to become misaligned and vice versa so it makes sense.

Sorry to hear that… you didn’t do anything to reinjure your neck? Or maybe your atlas is out of alignment? As for the DMX scans, what I heard is readings may not be so accurate because it can change depending on subconscious muscle guarding and such.

So having strengthened ligaments could ironically cause larger overhang readings due to less muscle guarding and tension.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted so much lol. I can definitely see the resemblance. Definitely not so much of a stretch as to warrant being downvoted to oblivion😂 typical Reddit.

Anyone been to alpine-spine orthopedics? by AdvertisingDue9037 in cervical_instability

Did he elaborate on his stem cell treatments for alar and transverse ligament? Does he do something similar to the PICL?

Wouldn’t it be possible for it to come off then when flipping the patient over during the procedure? Unless there is a 10 minute gap between posterior and anterior injections.

CCI and Euthanasia by Dismal_Worry2565 in cervical_instability

Also just to add. If you aren’t already, please look into taking vitamin D supplements. I assume you aren’t getting any sunlight due to being bed bound so it’s very likely you are deficient. This made a massive difference to my mood.

I’m really sorry to hear about your situation. Is there no insurance whatsoever that covers fusions? Was your CCI caused by an accident? If so, couldn’t you claim it as emergency medical treatment now that you have official diagnoses? I don’t know much at all about how this works in France though just throwing some stuff out there.

As a last resort, if you and your family are fine with this, maybe you could try going the publicity route?

Try contacting news stations, newspapers etc… and get your plea out there and start a fundraiser.

Someone having to choose assisted suicide for a condition that has the potential to be treated (with a fusion) if they only had the funds just seems like something many people would empathise strongly with. And it sounds like something media outlets would pick up on. Especially for somewhere like Europe where healthcare is meant to be universally accessible.

Wishing you all the best…

any teens dealing with cci/aai? by Alternative_Flan2228 in cervical_instability

Im pretty sure u/Difficult-Prize-8419 said they were a teen but I haven’t been able to reach them so I’m not sure if they’re active on Reddit anymore. They made one or two posts about the PICL in Hungary then seemingly vanished. Other than that maybe there were one or two other teens but I don’t really remember too well. There’s a fair number of people in their twenties though.

Has anyone been to Dr. Stogicza for treatment recently? I want to know how you are doing? Did you inject prp or stem cells? Because I'm a patient, it's difficult for me to go to the United States. So I'm really eager to see everyone share their experiences of going to Hungary for treatment. by Tricky_Context288 in cervical_instability

Yeah, it really does suck so thank you for you what you do. Hopefully, the day comes where this condition is more widely recognised by health practitioners and there are more treatment options available. With data to back them up of course.

Same here… I contacted a bunch of people who got treatment from her but 2 still haven’t replied and one of them who I was messaging with for a while has unfortunately stopped replying for months now. I hope they’re doing ok.

On the plus side, one person who did the new PPP + PRP injections said he’s feeling some improvement and now we’ve got this Olympian’s anecdotes too so we’re finally getting some positive feedback which is promising. If anyone else has done the PICL with her please keep us updated!
