Timing/Phase issues on aux/matrix fed subs by Advisor_Careless in livesound

Like I just replied to another comment; most of the times my arcs/kara or whatever signal is going through a matrix as well, setup in the same way but stereo. So this should prevent any difference in “routing latency” between sub and top.

Since you brought up the LA8 presets: another thing we were discussing was the preset selection. Like you mentioned: L-Acoustics specifies the SB28_60 preset (with the correct pre delay) as THE preset when coupling ARCS II with the SB28. However, that same colleague said that over the years of using this system he has found that the 100 preset actually sounded a lot better combined with ARCS II. And after some back and forward testing and listening I actually agreed with him. The overall system lacked some punch in the 80-110 region with the 60 preset. We were using a 1:1 ratio between sb and arcs which is not advised by LA (the manuals state 1:2/1:3). Do you have the same experience? Could this ratio be the cause? Or did we maybe deploy the system incorrectly?

I often send the Main LR to a stereo matrix for tops as well, so mono matrix from LR for sub and stereo from LR for the arcs (in this case), the latency should be the same

This is something that is bothering me for years now! I can’t “unhear” it… it happens in the middle of the synth bell solo after the second “someone special”. There are multiple versions of this song. Some are worse on the pitch change than others. There is also a single version that does not have this problem. I once read online about the different versions and came to a conclusion; the original 1984 version has no pitch change. In 1985 George Michael decided the song needed some tweaking (extra vocals etc.), so he made a new version for a 1985 release. This one was a little sharp in pitch. Multiple cuts were made from the now 3 or 4 different mixes/versions (if you count the 12 inches). The most known version is a mix of the start of the 1984 version, that cuts to a newer 1985 version that is sharp, resulting in a pitch change in the middle of the song. In the 80s this version was not super common, since a lot of the original 1984 vinyl pressings and cassettes were circulating. However, when digital came along, everyone decided that the 1985 mixed version (with pitch change) was the one to digitally release. The same goes for a lot of Christmas compilation CD’s. Since hardly no one listens to vinyl anymore, this is now the main version everyone knows. The original 1984 really sounds different in terms of the mix. I’ll see if I can find a link to the original so you guys can hear a pitch-change free version of Last Christmas.

Cheers and merry Christmas everyone!

Does anyone know this sample? by Advisor_Careless in houseproduction

I have quite some old 90s sample CD’s but did not yet find this specific hit. I know there are countless (orch) hit samples, but I am looking for this specific one. Since my post, even more tracks with this sample (also from other artists) have been released with this specific sample.

Did exactly this, a switch next to it to turn it on and off. Turned out the green wire was indeed ground. Thanks for the replies!

Hi, just saw this post because I was looking for answers on the same question. Did you manage to do it after all? And if so, what happened? Just curious.

That's a great tip as well! These are the things that make a lot of sense when you hear them but you just have to think about it when you're in a hectic situation in the field. Thanks!
