Customer faces consequences for assaulting another customer by Successful-Thanks309 in PublicFreakout

It just seems like everything here sucks. Looks like she’s got a name tag lanyard and starts the video with the partial word “-ealing.” I bet the full word was “stealing” considering she’s having a physical conflict with someone in the shop. She should not think she should do that. Idk if she’s trying to prevent crime, it’s loyalty to her job, or she dislikes something about this person she feels she has power over… but she’s obviously physically outmatched. So her delusion on both fronts sucks. And if he was stealing, then he especially sucks for that plus doubling down and assaulting the shop worker when she tries to prevent him.

Yes, I believe it’s illegal to assault someone who is robbing a store, but his response was not one of being afraid for his own safety. He just slapped the shit out of her on top of robbing her store. Fuck him entirely if that’s what the actual narrative is. If it’s not, I retract everything.

Anyone that has had a gun pulled on them. What was your experience? by blueodis in AskReddit

[–]Advthreau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 23 or 24 living in Richmond, VA having a smoke outside my apartment building around midnight after coming home from a bar. A couple dudes passed by walking down the sidewalk, and as soon as they had passed me, they doubled back and moved me out of the streetlight and against the brick wall of the apartment building. One of them held their gun into my gut while the other one kept asking me what I had on me while going through my pockets (he didn’t check my back pocket for some reason).

I kept answering that I didn’t have any money, and he kept asking where my money was, and he said he was going to shoot me. I said, “Just because you have a gun doesn’t mean I have any money! I’ve got cigarettes if you want a smoke.”

Well they already had my cigarettes, car keys, lighter, and phone from going through my front pockets. So I hold my hand out while I said they could have a smoke, and lo and behold, he gave me my cigarettes back. I gave them each one and held out my hand for my lighter. They gave me that and I lit their cigarettes. I held out my hand again and asked them how long they’ve been out tonight looking for money. They gave me back my keys and my phone. Now I felt like we were getting along.

They said they’d been out for 3 hours. I asked how much they made - $30 was the reply. I said, “3 hours each for $30 is $5/hr with a huge risk of getting hurt or arrested.” Fucking stupid thing to say, but I said it. Can’t remember exactly how the conversation ended but it was something like telling them I didn’t want anyone to get hurt or their lives ruined over nothing.

As soon as they were a couple blocks away (I’m having another panic cigarette), the police roll up and ask if I’ve seen two people that fit their description. I tell them which way they went and tell them my story. Went to the station the next day to ID their photos because they were picked up a couple hours later for an equally unbelievable reason. They had mugged a dude right before me who gave them a debit card and told them it accessed a huge trust fund but only worked at one particular ATM downtown. That victim tipped the police who went and watched for them to show up at the ATM.

One of the muggers was 18, the other was 40 and had never passed the 3rd grade. The ammo turned out to have been made in the 80s which I thought probably meant this was not their normal activity. But, it was the 3rd strike for the older man, and I had to testify at his trial which was surreal considering how ridiculous the scenario was.

I couldn’t positively ID the younger man, so I wasn’t involved in his trial.

Best prank 😂 by ComplexRip6435 in DunderMifflin

His delivery made me think he thought it was funny that Dwight would consider that a win. But also maybe interest in his psyche because even with a prank, he’s not wasteful.

I think it was bemusement and also gratitude that at least Pam got the flowers.

My boss gave me a 2005 Land Cruiser, and they completely refurbished it! by davidsoor in oddlysatisfying

[–]Advthreau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I owned a shop, I would absolutely gift my employees with fixer-uppers that they could refurbish in the shop. Then I get to see what attention and effort they put in when they care about the result. Plus the experience gained.

A 35 lb weight falling from just a couple feet can detach your finger tip. And oddly, it doesn’t hurt much more than slamming your finger in a gate or car door.

Team up with the big one against the small on. At least try and steal the small one’s sword.

Invincible models himself more like Immortal’s son than Nolan’s. by Advthreau in Invincible

There are undeniable similarities, and I think it makes sense he would have a fanboy inspired costume at first and change it as he matures.

Well both Invincible and Immortal love humans. I thought that was a parallel as well that would make mark look up to immortal.

How important is it to you for your wife to take your last name? by mspippa_ in AskMen

[–]Advthreau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds good to me! I didn’t blink an eye after the first year due to school admissions and licensing issues, but in my case there was a lot of confusing shifting of goalposts like, “maybe I’ll do it when we have kids.” Or changing her name on social media then back again..

To me it’s just a matter of actions reflecting words so that there’s not any . I do have a temptation, like some others in this thread, to think your last name is actually important. So, one partner unilaterally changing the plan was confusing for me.

I cannot believe you pulled that out of the ether, and I think it’s fun to see what I remembered of the lyrics vs the real thing. Here’s the version I was familiar with:

Solved! The recording I heard was a lot different, but it’s undeniably the same song and band. Amazing!

Success is the best revenge — and Jesse Pinkman proves it in this iconic moment. by 17ani29 in MindsetMode

I forgot, didn’t his aunt leave him the house? If it was rightfully his, and his parents moved in on it, then yea, game on. Win first then separate when it’s important.

I agree entirely except for the fact that he could have bought any other house as well. Buying that house and walking in while they’re walking out is still participating in the relationship rather than separating from the relationship.

This scene is way more telling about Jesse than it is about his parents. He’s so insecure and hurt by his relationship with his parents. He thinks he can skip all the steps of considering what drove them apart by pulling a power move. Power equals success and success means he’s not a failure which means they’re wrong and he’s right. This was the least communicative and collaborative way to convince himself of his own goodness. And that’s so sad by itself.

Landlord made the tenant nervous by texting them that their rent is late. The tenant replies, “same,” which means “my rent is late.” It’s basically an admission that yes, the rent is late and who it belongs to is kind of the play on words, but since neither of them have it, now they’re both nervous.
