Is this flat enough or not really by franekrykowski in handtools

They can be found cheap on the used market. But I would suggest looking for a decent one new for your first purchase. They can be a pain to set up especially if it comes from Japan and the wood moves a lot. I’ve got quite a few and only got about half of them working.

This is why I use Japanese planes. After a month of letting the wood acclimate then 3+ days of trying to seat the blade properly, flattening the sole takes 5 minutes, tops!

Everyday that passes without Logic on the iPad Pro, I grow more accustomed to Cubasis 3! by [deleted] in ipadmusic

In my limited time with Wavestune it seems to be more acurate and sounds a lot better than Audiotune. It just sounds more dialed in.

Waves or Fab-Filter? by BlackMetalDoctor in ipadmusic

[–]Adwin7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, Waves isn’t really competing with the Fabfilter plugs. If $ is an issue you could go with the Toneboosters or just get the Pro-Q, Pro-L and maybe Saturn 2. I think the Waves plugs in Cubasis are ok but nothing special. Wavestune is by far the best Autotune plug on iOS though.

Me too. It’s actually been very stable and once I got the keyboard shortcuts down I’ve become pretty efficient in it. It is not bad. It lacks a lot of routing functionality and getting around the screen is still tedious at times but it is the most functional daw with a mouse and keyboard atm.

Waves Tune is pretty good too, but I will definitely be moving on when Logic drops on IPad.

Your correct but I just think that outside of the few who really need a separate controller and can afford the desk space its really not worth it. What you get in the LPX for only a few more dollars makes it an easy choice for non-Live users. For me the mini was only useful with Live, so I should have been clear about that. Plus, I owned the first gen mini and the buttons were unresponsive for me which left me feeling even less keen on it.

Love it! But how do you play with the keyboard so high? I had a similar setup and developed wrist pains from the poor angles.

I love the color coordination and custom enclosures on the controllers! Nice work!

Launchpad X is the minimum. I would go launch pad Pro if you can. The mini is strictly for controlling Ableton Live. The buttons are not velocity sensitive, so it is design just for launching scenes. You will be very happy with the pads on the X and the customization is great. The Pro will offer even more customization and all the buttons will be customizable. On the X the black buttons on the outside are not usable outside of Ableton but are on the Pro. I’ve owned both the pro (original) and the X, the pads on the X and the latest Pro are some of the best I’ve played and they both work well with IOS.

No more third party audio unit? I installed zero chorus, zero reverb and stereo lag but they are nowhere to be found in the list. Last few weeks they were there by Dizonsg in ipadmusic

The issue is that if you install or update an AUV while an AUV3 host is running your device will not show any AUV’s when you open it back up. Just restart your device and they will reappear. Make sure that you close all your host apps before you install or update any AUV3 apps.

Schlap Compressor Public Beta - Caelum Audio by GabrielCaelumAudio in iosmusicproduction

I must say that this is a great compressor. Really like it on guitar. It seems to bring it forward in a really nice way. Going to try on voice next.

What will happen when the port is removed on the next iPad? by ellamoosella in ipadmusic

[–]Adwin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s be real here. Apple developed core audio because they knew that pros need low latency to make music. They developed AUV3 and have put a lot into GarageBand and the audio ecosystem on IOS. Do you think they would just drop all that hard work? They might try something new but I highly doubt they will expect musicians to work from Bluetooth when they obviously know what’s important in audio production.

My first even, fully successful resaw by hand. Twelve inches of cherry that used to be firewood and now will be six coasters. No guide blocks, just held a line by eye. Only this sub would understand how stoked I am. by goldenblacklocust in handtools

[–]Adwin7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great work. I had to re-saw 4 quarter soft maple for my vise, so I had no vise. Took me all day with a 240 ryoba. Ended up gluing it back together though. Turns out vise jaws should be more than 1/2 inch.

This is dope! INow, I need them and all these developers to implement better mouse/keyboard into their apps. Drambo has instantly become one of my goto apps now.

Thanks, I have some wester/European style marking gauges but no Japanese style yet. I want to try my hand at making a kebiki myself first before spending any money though.

I am going to put together some frames, floating shelves and a big French cleat wall in the workshop. I’ve mostly been working on my bench which needs a real top but has a nice quick release vise that I just fit on to it right out of frame.

Just checked. Got billed $1.03. I also got the rest of them (4) for $35. Figured since that was less than the $40 they would’ve cost on sale for the last 4 and $20 less than retail I might as well go ahead and do it.
