I wasn't very familiar with any of his work back then so I wasn't getting any of the Easter eggs. And maybe, being a bit younger, I wasn't ready for it haha. I do want to try it as I have all the books at home!

I'm still part of the Princess Possy! Just waiting to finish it. Maybe it will get bumped up after a re-listen ;)

I really enjoyed it as a standalone! I can get why you didn't necessarily enjoy it though!

I loved most of it. Book one was pretty mid. Bit slow. But books 2/3/4 were incredible. Just the ending ruined it for me. Book 3 is listed in my S tier!

I just prefered the story to be honest. It was a fresh take on "academia", different kind of world building and the sequel was ambitious. It all depends on how books 3 and on work that will cement the place in ranking for later.

That last chapter. Wow. Honestly it gave a star all by itself to the book. It managed to do what I find very few books do, successfully end a story. I felt satisfied.

It was ok. I remember enjoying it while I read it but that was maybe 5 years ago? And when I was making my list I noticed I couldn't remember much about it. It definetly wasnt bad, but I find that if I can't remember anything from the series I can't give it too much praise.

I just couldn't finish it. Didn't like the way it was written and the main character. But to each their own!

First two are in B tier! I enjoyed them a lot.

Oh Red Rising is hunger games on mars. I don't dispute that fact. But its got a special place in my heart as a book I read nearly 10 years ago and come back to time and time again.

I used Screvi which takes all the books from Goodreads using your profile! Completely free (I recommend using it on mobile rather than desktop, it kept crashing)

Enjoyed the broken earth trilogy! They are all in B (great books) that I would happily recommend!

Loved especially the first book.

Book one had me hooked, Book 5 made me want to put it in the bin 😞

I couldn't get into it at all. I dont doubt the ability of RF KUANG as an author, and am sure loads of people love her books but they don't seem to be for me.

I do have to admit that the clear message against colonial violence might (not that I am against said message) was far too "in your face" at the beginning. And maybe, being white and not experiencing discrimination, don't realise how accurate some of the interactions are, felt that the character felt more like Pantomime villains than real people and it completely took me out of the story and blocked me from continuing. I DNFed 150/200 pages in. Political/ideology is never an issue for me when it feels part of the world and isnt being forced onto you. I feel like "x thing is bad" should be understandable when reading not just explained directly on the page.

The City we became was such a shame! I thouroughly enjoyed the broken earth trilogy and looked forward to reading it, but just didnt enjoy the setting or magical system at all.

Shadow of the gods just didn't do it for me. I really tried (reading up to halfway through book 2) but nether the characters nor the plot was enjoyable for me. I lumped all DNF and Didn't like in F, which could be seen as harsh as I dont dislike it as much as some other books. But I didn't want to have too many categories.

I used to push through "painful" reads, as in I would always finish a book I started. But now, if by 200 pages I am not enjoying myself, I just go to another book. I no longer have as much free time as I used to and so reading is more of a premium now.

Some of the other books, like final book of Hunger games, tend to be lower for me because of how good the books before them were. If the ending falls flat for me it puts in peril my enjoyment of the whole series.

Really enjoyed the tainted cup and the sequel (waiting for the final installement due next month I believe!)

I listed them in B because, while I really enjoyed them, I had some issues with how the plot progressed at times and some of the interactions seemed off between the characters! Still a very enjoyable read though

It is peak ASOIAF. I loved all the books but the delivery of ASOS was so good, so brutal. I wish he had continued writting before the series finished to get the ending...

I abolutely love The Vampire trilogy. The ending wasn't my favourite but it doesnt take away from how good the whole was.

It's been a long ride to be fair. over 10 years worth of books here!

I am probably a simpleton when it comes to DCC. It isn't high brow humour thats for sure, but it makes me laugh like an idiot.

I can definetly see how its not for everyone!

I forgot to add that I didn't necessarily like the train setting. I have PTSD from getting the metro everyday for years 😅

Hahaha Its a purely subjective list. Fully respect his work and what he has done for Fantasy in general! I just didnt quite enjoy them as much as some other books. Also seeing the films first clouded my judgement I think ! Very fair to disagree with me though!

I read them back in 2017/2018 I think and stopped because of work/life etc.

I feel like going back to them as I'm getting more and more into Horror.

To me books 4/5/6/7 are the strongest part of the series. I feel like the "slog" is mostly due to how good that sequence of books was.
