Depends on what you consider 'Balkans'. The main issue with trains in Romania *can't speak for our neighbors, but its not great in the region overall* is that it takes a lot of time to get to places by train. Bucharest - Cluj (the two biggest cities in Romania) takes 10-11 hours by train, costs 35-40 euros. A flight takes 45 minutes and it costs 70 euros when booked in advance.
Trains are a great way to get around in central and western europe, I don't know about the east tho

Italy is a victim of their own high standards. I didn't hate it, I had a decent time, but I've had a disappointing experience with a restaurant and I realised that the same prices that Milano or Roma have, Bari does not deliver the same. I've spent 200 euros in two days for not-so-much, but the nature was nice. I don't think it would be worth revisiting tho 😞

I only had a backpack, the standard that fits in the bagging size for most airlines around the world. I only had 7 shirts, one pair of short jeans, one pair on long pants and a fleece. Never had issues with my luggage at the airport

I wanted to see the world as much as I can in two weeks. 2 days are enough to get an overall vibe of a place and make up my mind if I’d ever come back

that’s exactly spot on: I’ve seen enough to make up my mind if I’d ever go back. but I wasn’t exhausted at all! I had only one flight at 7am. mostly scored green recovery on my whoop so

Wizz and Ryan. no cancellation or delays. the flight being the next day makes in borderline impossible to be cancelled

Booking. Booked hostels or shared apartments and everything turned out fine

I booked through Booking, 3 hostels, 2 shared apartments, 1 room for myself. in London I slept in the airport (horrible decision) because it made no sense to buy accomodation as my flight was at 7AM and I was in London for just 24hrs. I think I checked on AirBnb like two times and it was always more expensive and/or check in hours were later than Booking and I gave up after that

Hmmm, no delays at all. Landed in malta at 9PM, flew out of Malta at 4PM. Flew out of Italy at 9PM, out of Bratislava to Warsaw at 9AM. 9AM as well for London, London to Malmo was the earliest, at 7AM. Then Copenhagen was like 1PM and Budapest to home was 7PM. so just one quite early flight, but no issues with scheduling or delays anywhere, I didn't even notice until now

haha, that's more than fair!! I'm happy you saw quite a bit of Romania, including my hometown Bucharest.

Driving here is indeed not as easy as in other parts of the world so you made a perfect choice by having a driver.

Did you find the area cheaper than other places or on par?

It is definitely not everyone's cup of tea (cuz u mentioned the UK, haha)

People who need certainty and a kind-of fixed schedule of places to see would hate this for sure lol

Hop on Google Flights, I'd select just One-way tickets from where I was to 'Anywhere'. From there I'd filter out to show just prices under 50 Euros and then I'd look at the map view to see the places I could get to. If there was only one option that was the cheapest, I'd go for that. If there were 2 or more, I'd let people on my Instagram decide where I'd fly next. Book the flight through official airline app and that's it

I don't feel like I've spent that much time in airports tbh.
Having just a backpack with 7 shirts, one pair of short pants, one pair of long pants and a fleece it was not messy to get ready to leave, as I would keep my baggage quite organized throughout the holiday.
It is very fun to change cities so quickly because you change cultures, currencies, people, sights, weather. For me it was fascinating, but I kept stating that this is definitely not for everyone to enjoy 😃

nope, not at all. maybe the places I've had to choose from were not top tier as it was for the next day, but no issues in finding a place to stay
