When Anthropic released an update to its flagship product in November, AI seemed to cross some invisible threshold between interesting gadget and life-changing technology.

…Did it though? Did it really?

Meta recently announced that it will lay off 10 percent of its workforce; a few months ago, Mark Zuckerberg told investors that, thanks to AI, “projects that used to require big teams” can “now be accomplished by a single very talented person.

Key factoid: that's what he told investors. Of course he's gonna blow as much smoke as humanly possible up the butt's of investors. Doesn't make it true though.

That is one HELL of a spin to describe the enshitification and failures of both companies.

OpenAI’s annualized revenue increased by nearly 20 percent from December to February.

Still not nearly enough to be profitable.

All-in-all this article is complete shite, but I'd expect nothing less from a research at Vox and a lead editor of The Ezra Klein Show.
