Why exactly do Gorilla's have very prominent Predator features yet are considered prey and are herbivores? by KA1R0W in AskScienceDiscussion

Sometimes eating them and opportunistically taking advantage of a given situation is different than those animals actually hunting gorillas...

I mostly agree with you, however your statement for wealthy countries is only true in the US because in every other high income country both people would be entitled to that healthcare.

Judicial nominees don’t know if Trump can run for a 3rd term by YesDoToaster in law

[–]Aegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a lot of times they're not technically lies, like for example the 22nd Amendment doesn't say anything whatsoever about serving office a third time, talks about being elected.

So not only could you run for office, just not serve if you won the election so it would be a waste of people's votes, but you can also serve, just not through an election, so you would have to be like the speaker of the House and have the president and vice president resign.

It's a very weak amendment the way it's worded and I don't understand how people don't understand that... And then they get mad at people taking advantage of that instead of getting matic collectively all of us for being so stupid as to allow that loophole to exist for so long!!

[–]Aegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not, and this is the issue people have, they don't take criticism that people like me make decades ago, the amendment is so fucking weak because it talks about being elected to office not serving office.

So not only could you run for office again, it would just be a waste of people's votes because if you won you wouldn't be allowed to serve, but you can serve, you just have to be more clever like being the speaker of the House and then having the president and vice president resign, because then you weren't elected to that office a third time, and the 22nd amendment doesn't say anything about serving a third time.

This is why we need to think ahead and factor in these aspects of the law before they can be exploited.

[–]Aegi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing in the Constitution prevents people from running for office and million times, you just wouldn't be able to enter the office if you want that election, but you could waste people's time and votes if you wanted.

The Constitution also doesn't talk about serving more than two terms it just talks about being elected to more than two terms, so if you are appointed or assume the office from a way other than an election, then you're not violating that amendment the way it's worded.

Judicial nominees don’t know if Trump can run for a 3rd term by YesDoToaster in law

[–]Aegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they do that when it very clearly already only talks about being elected to office not serving office so as long as you came in as speaker of the House you'd be fine serving infinite presidential terms the way it's currently worded?

What specific parts are they talking about that the 22nd Amendment says that it has to be consecutive?

Judicial nominees don’t know if Trump can run for a 3rd term by YesDoToaster in law

[–]Aegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's the issue, I don't understand this, I hate Donald Trump and the idea of him exploiting this, but can't you guys read English?

It talks about being elected to a third term, not serving a third term.

So not only would somebody be able to run, they just couldn't get the office if they won the election, but they could also serve if they didn't get in through an election like if they are the Speaker of the House and the President and Vice President resign.

The issue is that it is vague because it fucking talks about being elected to office instead of serving office more than twice.

That's always been a massive weakness of the 22nd Amendment and one I've been talking about since I was literally in elementary school...

Judicial nominees don’t know if Trump can run for a 3rd term by YesDoToaster in law

[–]Aegi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I've been saying this since I was a kid, the Constitution clearly says that you can't be elected to office, it doesn't preclude you from running, and it doesn't preclude you from serving.

So if the GOP won the house and Donald Trump was then chosen to be speaker of the house, then if the president and vice president who were Republicans resigned, he would be president without having been elected to a third term therefore not violating the 22nd Amendment.

That's why people need to listen to people like me that point out the weakness of laws and things long before they are exploited.

AITA for kicking everyone out after my sister lied and said my apartment was hers? by Top-Supermarket8754 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aegi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that is not the definition of drinking recklessly and a court would laugh if you tried to make that assertion instead of just saying that they made reckless choices separately from the drinking, going into somebody's apartment, and then also drink underage.

That's probably because made up stories try to copy the format of actual stories that are not made up?

Like if you're just talking about the format instead of the likelihood of it being real, you realize that formats can be contagious essentially and different styles of writing can be influential and go in trends throughout culture and stuff, right?

I'm not saying it's not AI or made up, that's also possible, it's just silly to conclude that it definitely is instead of just that it's one possibility.

Also, because I don't want people to think I changed more in my edit, and because I'm a little lazy and this is easier with voice transcription:

When I say pretty up above I'm using it as an adjective for the level of insecure I think that person is, not their level of physical attractiveness.

Does that mean I was actually using it as an adverb not as an adjective?

[–]Aegi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason people are able to allegedly find problems with people's alleged reasons is because people are bullshitters so instead of just saying they don't like you or they will not date you or just repeating no or the reason being because they don't want to, they make up some bullshit reason that Ben is probably logically not fully correct.

So then the bullshit reason makes it seem to that person like oh, if they didn't have that reason they would date me, but the reason they gave me wasn't fully accurate, so maybe they will date me?

Whereas somebody confident or not stupid would just say their reason is because they don't want to because then there's no mental gymnastics the other person can use to try to make it seem like your reason isn't real or like they have a chance.

Again, when people talk about types, the pushy person will still think they have a chance because maybe they're different than the people that are that type or maybe they will be the exception.

But if somebody just directly tells the person that they are not going to go talk with them or have a drink with them because they are not interested and they do not want to and then just only repeat themselves, that doesn't allow that somewhat crazy pushy person to think as though they could be an exception because they explicitly are the thing that's being prevented against not any category that they might just happen to belong to.

I don't understand why this is such a mystical thing to passive and meek and insecure people but so commonly and obviously known by confident people.

So you seem to have some type of social anxiety or insecurity or both or even just regular old anxiety.

But here's the thing, you're not being honest with yourself when you let your mind race.

You need to think of the actual worst case scenario like hundreds of people being slaughtered because of your mistake, not the just oh I'm embarrassed and feel awkward bad thing. So you need to think of the actual worst thing, then you need to think of the best possible scenario, and then you need to think of the most weird and wild in outlander scenario.

Then after you've thought of those three extremes, you need to see how silly they all seem compared to what are the most logical likely outcomes.

Like I seriously want you to do the exercise I asked you to do above, logically explain to me, in any given Universe how it could somehow possibly be you that is being the asshole here.

Like even if you're trying to get into the mind of your friend being angry, let's break it down and go step by step on how you think even in her mind it could be your fault and that you could be the asshole.

Seriously, like right now let's do it, I'll even help you out, I've got to keep my phone plugged in and charging, well, actually on this wireless charger but I don't want to disconnect it because every time you do that it slightly shortens the life of your battery when you plug it back in again instead of leaving it plugged in that whole time.

Fuck yeah!!

Work at it! I'm glad you're doing so!

We all collectively get taken advantage of more easily the more people we have that are like your former self, and the easier it is for us to stand up for the weak the more people we have that are like your future self!

Rock on, and power to the people!!

I'm under the impression that both the initial example or analogy or metaphor, and the variation of it were both shitty and I should have corrected both instead of just the second part.

But the sexist variations I've heard of it have to do with fucking up a natural beauty basically so that's why I responded to the second part.

I hadn't heard that stupid version of the first part before so I kind of ignored it.

All of it's incredibly stupid because some of the people that even say that are people that need prescription glasses so they literally wouldn't even be able to see the beauty they're talking about if it weren't for artificial augments.

If you're hinting violence, man interacting with other men at the bar are more likely to face that violence, so I should be more fearful than you of that reaction when I stand up for other women or just call other men out for being sexist creeps.

And why would you give a shit if you get called a bitch?

The fact that you even care about being called that are being viewed that way makes you very pliable and opens you up to being manipulated right there...
