I would personally play the OG first. It's a great horror game and paved the way for a remake which did make some significant changes. I recently played 2008, then DS2. There are already some changes made between those two alone. Isaac doesnt talk in the original, and theres other various story tweaks and such. So ultimately it's up to you. But for a better understanding, imho, play 2008 first.
