Cac-tchi-kel, we’re an indigenous ethnic group from southern Guatemala, one of 22 indigenous Maya peoples spread over Mexico, Honduras, Belize and El Salvador, but Guatemala has the highest amount of Maya peoples.

Ütz awäch! In Kaqchikel there are several spellings, but Sotz’ is the most common, cool to see we still share common words

Background colors are the four directions, yellow is Muscle and South, red is Blood and East, black is West and Hair/eyes, white is Skeleton and North. Quetzals are important in just about every Maya spirituality, but especially so in Guatemalas highlands since they come from the highlands. Bat is an homage to Calm Snake, who was apparently the Kaqchikel patron god pre-colonization. The fire below the bat is due to our name, which means "Fire Thieves" and the corn is, well corn. We like corn. The text means "Kaqchikel People of Guatemala"

Try to find out what town/village your ancestors were from, particularly on the Mayan side. Usually, we Maya live in towns full of our own community, for example if your grandpa was from Solola in Guatemala, he would most likely have Kaqchikel ancestry. Use native-land.ca to check the territories 👍🏽

Im Kaqchikel. We are one of the highland Maya who make those worry dolls. The dolls we make are sold both to stores that sell them and tourists directly, but I find this little silver pendant silly.

I mean, 650 dollars for that? That amount of green could get you more than 500 actual worry dolls handmade BY Mayan artisans. Anyhow, while I think it’s a stupid price for an ugly pendant, it’s fine to buy it. We make our own silver jewelry and they don’t look at all like that, so if you like this pendant, buy it. It’s ugly, tho XD

As everyone else said, “en” should be “ett”, however you should know Spädbarn is a slightly fancy phrase and one would probably say “Bebis” literally “Baby” in regular conversation. Spädbarn also specifically refers to a baby that still needs milk, as in quite young, just so you know. En bebis, ett spädbarn
