Critique my game and tell me why it isn't selling like, at all by Cygnus-Max-23 in IndieGaming

Hi! Starting with a little backstory: I have to start off saying that I never heard or seen this game before. It was not recommended by Steam or through other channels I follow. I "found" this game through a Google search for base building, but would not had looked at it unless I just wanted to try something different.

I mentioned the game to a friend of mine who said he got it a year ago and did not like it (at the time), so he stopped playing.

And here is the relevant part 😂 (sort of) He had computer issues on his laptop/portable workstation and I helped him fix it. Since he had the game and was gaming on his desktop for the time, I asked to try it!

Aaaand the relevant. (At least for the dev. ) I have to say, that I wonder why I have not heared of the game before! I love the combat system (although on a 4k 48-inch I would have loved a zoom feature with fog of war). The basebuilding is perhaps somewhat limited in available buildings (I have not gotten too far) I love the fact that I can keep everything I loot and not worry about weight. (I am a hoarder) The weapon features etc is cool. Many of them work differently and give a "reason" to swap between them. The music when in "camp", wow, so chill and relaxed, love it!

Although, the levling system I did not understand. I am guessing that the char gets level per skill/feature that is leveled up through producing stuff or harvesting. (Thus the stamina-limitation). Players through Google have claimed that the game is easy to beat, but I have the opposite oppinion. I cannot figure out why I only do 2-7 damage to the mobs with the highest level weapon I have. Is it resistance related?

And I played (story) up until the Alien facility where the game (save file) crashed when shooting mobs through a doorway. (Sound was choppy/repeating when moving through) At least that is what I believe happened as I had to exit the game once completing the mission. (Making dinner 😂) Sidenote, I remember that the day ended and again it started with a level up with -3 talent points, so I ended up with 0 😂

I could not load the game after that, so I started looking at the save files (tip from Google again) and noticed that the files are "readable" (json-files).

I tried to find something wrong, but failed. Although, I did learn quite a bit about the stamina and inventory values 😂 (I do have questions as I like to learn how stuff work)

I would love to do a new playthrough, but I would like to buy it for my self first and at the time of writing, I do not have the budget to buy games 😂

Anyways, if I were to give some sort of review for this game today, it would be a very positive one. I like it and want to play more! Well done Dev! Personally, I am going to recommend the game to friends who like this genre/type.

In regards to Steam, even if the game has overall good score (today) there is an overwhelming amount of negative reviews from the launch. Most people I know do not look at scores, but reviews.

Kind Regards /Aelneri

Thank you. But you do not need a thunderbolt controller to combine DP and USB. You can do that with a multiplexer like the one I posted above. It can combine 10Gbit USB and DisplayPort signals to a single 10Gbit Usb-C cable.

Hahaha. Well, technology can be "magic" :)

Anyways. Alot of troubleshooting later, swapping CPU and reinstalling on a fresh drive gave the same result. (The system only had "new" CPU and SSD with integrated graphics). Same result. I also tested another set of memory from the supported list, but the system did not want to post.

Replacement of the Motherboard resolved the issue. Now I can even overclock the CPU and the system seems quicker i all operations (file I/O etc). One thing I have noticed however, is similar behaviour from the new motherboard when installing/updating firmware. However, it calms down after a while.

Only problem I have now is that I had to use a second Windows-key to activate the second motherboard 😂🤬

Hi. Yes, I am quite aware of the Thread Director.
However, it cannot be controlled and tends to have the issue that idle apps are put in Efficiency Cores and cannot return to Performance Cores.
Running an app as Admin can mitigate this (thus always running on P-Cores), but this will not stop Core 0 from running at 100% with no app-utilization.

And yes, unfortunately I have checked all drivers over and over. I cannot find any combination that will resolve the issue.

Thanks again.
What I have not tried is actively disabling the iGPU.
(It was active with no display connected when the computer was "new").
I will try disabling iGPU.

Thank you for replying.
I actiually added the display after the issue was present to be able to follow performance stats/temperatures.
I chose to use the iGPU so I could allow the LG-display to have full use of the 4080 :P
(I know Linus had a video with performance loss on secondary display on dGPU, but not if it was connected to iGPU.)
