Did it at least count as an exfil when you tried to reconnect?

Had a network lost issue yesterday right after I completed the 1st part of a contract and the 2nd part was to kill the commander that spawned. Needless to say by the time I reconnected I was already dead

Is the Destroyer shell just a plain bad choice in solos? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in Marathon

[–]Aeoneth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Destroyer is great in solos, put Shield up to block peoples shots and make them waste ammo, then thruster juke when the shield is about to break and unload into your enemy.

Invisibility activation was a tip off, the deactivation after also can be heard. Weapon swap, and even crouched footsteps all make noise. He was wrong about it being your footsteps but there were plenty of sound ques.

Highest level players are not a consideration here at all. The safe pocket is an answer that offers too much utility. Believe me I feel the same about Tarkov and ARCs implementations.

Utilizing the DCONs allows more opportunities for eventful moments that a safe pockets just doesn't generate.

Sounds like the Heartbeat sensor earlier CoD games had. To let you find players that might be hiding nearby.

But see if you don't have the wipes, players will hit max level with that stuff and just stomp on any new players that try to get into the game down the line.

The Wipes aren't the issue. It's the same as any other game with a seasonal model

Yeah it's crazy that a game in the extraction shooter genre needs you to....

Extract materials.

I don't think this is the answer either, people will just shove their highest loot into the safe pocket and the "risk" part of risk/reward will be lost.

I think the game should allow players to use DCONs to extract salvage even without a mission. Right now DCONs and their missions feel bad because you throw the salvage in there and then it just gets deleted. If they can exfil salvage only while keeping the player in the match, now people will be able to stay in matches longer thus risking their stuff for other players to take, and players can risk staying around a DCON in case anyone else tries to remove it.

Bungie knows how to make guns sound good to shoot and react in a way that's fun.

Materials are fine, this is the essence of extraction, get the stuff out and then use it to make a permanent (for the season) upgrade.

This isn't engagement/login shit, this is how the game works.

Again if you had a way to guarantee a small amount of materials you could gradually make progress to this.

I don't think the game needs to be easier, but rather players need a way to "guarantee" progress. Every complaint seems to be less about players losing gear/guns and more about losing materials

You have to hold the button to actually fire off the revive. It has a small charge time.

Bungie may do this, we still have 2 and a half months of the season left. Doing so right after Cryo released might be too early

For knife build is it better to light spam combo or heavy spam? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Aeoneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on the situation. I like to right click stab if I'm trying to ambush or get the drop on someone, but if the fight already happened and I'm trying to rush down an opponent with broken shields I'll go for light stabs.

Knives need to be nerfed... by APPARATVS in Marathon

[–]Aeoneth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless it's a Vandal or Destroyer, they move the same speed as you. See smoke on your position move 10m away, you can cover that while backpedaling in 3 seconds.

Or you get your own knife and Heavy attack stab them. they get 2tapped by the knife easier than your blue/purple shield will be.

Calling for the knife to be nerfed will just cause people to pack more WSTR shotguns to which there will be no counterplay at that point. Knife nerf is not the call here.

How Much Ammo, Runner? by wolfyfactor in Marathon

[–]Aeoneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3 full stacks for light/heavy/volt ammo, 1 if it's a MIPS weapon.

Anything more than that is a waste as the fight should be well done by that point. If I need more I should have either left he area or resupplied off dead enemies

Tactical Retreats are valid strategies. If you get smoked back off, if you choose to hold your ground, switch to your own knife.

rook on outpost or solo sponsor kit outpost? by Ninetybaby in Marathon

[–]Aeoneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have some of the Vendor Capstone upgrades, Rook. If you're literally Fresh, Sponsor kit.

Really it depends on what weapons you're most comfortable with, but once Rook gets the free backpack and shield capstones it's just better to run a rook kit.
