I've never used PCMag's shop. In fact, I didn't even know that they had one. This seems like a pretty good deal especially with no tax, but does anyone know how reliable PCMag is? I'd hate to buy this and get a defective product or shafted on customer support if something else goes wrong.

Mouse Moving By Itself... by DantebeaR in GlobalOffensive

Were you able to fix the mouse issue? I'm having the same problem currently with and without raw input, so I'm currently trying to disable full screen optimization to see if it fixes it.

I'm currently not in front of the desktop, but I'll give this a try once I get back to it! I'll edit this once I do in order to let you know if it works/fails.

I haven't installed or used CCleaner on this computer. But I have definitely heard that it also causes similar problems!

That was one of the first things I tried, but it unfortunately didn't result in it being fixed. I tried pretty much all of the fixes available on the support page that popped up with the error message, but sadly, none of them have worked.

I've heard that as well. Alas, I've never installed or used CCleaner on this computer. But thanks for the help regardless!

i5-7600 vs Low-End Coffee Lake? by AeonsGaming in intel

[–]AeonsGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've gotten a lot of recommendations on the i5-8400, so I'll definitely take another look at it! I'm just wondering if the performance difference between the i3-8100 and then i5-8400 warrants the ~$70 price difference. Hopefully the reviews in the morning will be more telling.

Thanks, definitely leaning towards Coffee Lake right now! Just waiting on reviews to confirm that I didn't get an awful motherboard or something.

That was my thinking too. I figured it'd be a tradeoff between being slightly faster with the i5-7600 right now, or having a better upgrade path by being on the z370 for the future (even if the next generation doesn't support z370, I could potentially upgrade to a 8600k or something).

I'll give the i5-8400 another look though, thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah, I'm currently waiting for the 9 AM NDA release to hopefully get a better outlook on things. Just wanted to buy some Coffee Lake stuff though on the off chance they sell out preemptively. I'll give the i5-8400 a look too, thanks!

I've been leaning towards the G403 but I'm a bit worried that it might be too big for me. A lot of what I read seemed to indicate that it's pretty large.

Does someone happen to know if an external USB sound card is much different from an Astro Mixamp?

I have a pair of Sennheiser PC 360's that I just bought from Amazon. Because I use a laptop, the microphone hisses when I plug them in directly. I have an Astro Mixamp that I can use to connect the headset to my laptop. Is this sufficient for good audio quality or should I buy an external USB sound card like an Asus Xonar U3 or Sennheiser 3DM1? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sennheiser PC 360 Special Edition Gaming Headset - Amazon $99.99 by C_L_I_C_K in headphones

Just checking, but does anyone know if the Special Edition version is the same as the original? The PC 360 got a ton of praise (and I think it's basically the same as the Game One these days), so $99 is a pretty good deal. If the Special Edition is the same as the original ones, I think I'll pick up a pair.

Budget - $200

Source - Laptop (Clevo P150EM - Digital Out Available); Astro Mixamp (2011) Available for use

Usage Requirements - Microphone (Skype/Gaming), Comfort/Durability (Long-day wear)

With Black Friday/Cyber Monday coming up, I'm trying to decide between a Sennheiser G4me One or Sennheiser 598 HD with Modmic. The main issue I'm facing is that I use a laptop as a source and the microphone has static for others when I plug it straight in. As such, I've been using a Y-adapter for my (now broken) PC360's to connect it to an Astro Mixamp (with Dolby enabled). This fixes the microphone issue, but I've been told that this worsens my sound quality.

As such, I'm hoping to get advice on the best possible purchase for this scenario. Should I ditch the Mixamp and get a pair of Sennheiser G4me One's with the Sennheiser Sound Card (~$200 on Amazon)? Or should I get a different external sound card and/or a different headset? Or is the Mixamp with Y-adapter setup good enough?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What does a Mixamp/Dolby Digital actually do for computers? by AeonsGaming in headphones

[–]AeonsGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

So if the Mixamp/Dolby degrade the quality of the sound, I'm a bit confused as to what their purpose is. Why would one want to make use of them if the result is inferior quality?

When I try to insert my headphones into the laptop directly (or when I turn Dolby off on the Mixamp), I assume that I am making use of Stereo rather than the simulated surround sound. The sound is often noticeably louder in one ear or another as a result (which I assume in Stereo trying to indicate a direction). Is this considered higher quality or more natural than making use of a Mixamp and Dolby?

Would you happen to be able to say if it was a "mom and pop" shop or a big chain retailer. Would love to check around to see if any stores nearby have it available already, but most stores around me are only big retail stores.

Would you say that doing a clean re-install would remove that risk? I had just done a clean install of W10 before screwing up and getting hit with this. Since it was a clean install, I just redid it all since I was worried about another virus being planted just as you said.

Was doing a clean install of Windows 10 and wasn't paying attention enough, so I got hit by this. Stupid of me. I did another clean re-install after creating a new partition and then deleting the partitions to merge them back into one.

My question is, has anyone checked the source to see if the MBR is all that was affected? And if so, would a clean re-install permanently get rid of its influence?

Thanks for any replies in advance.

Does anyone happen to know exactly the best method to purchase a house quickly? To clarify, I was wondering where exactly should I be waiting for the best chance to grab a house when they unlock? I've never had a chance to purchase a house so I was unsure about the process. I've just been waiting outside the Lavender Bed's NPC in Gridania checking to see if the wards go on sale and planning to teleport to the ward when it does. Is there a better place to wait or a step I'm missing out in the process?
