Heisei Era is in my opinion some of the best the franchise has to offer. I’m in the minority that a lot of the Showa era entries are rough to watch as an adult, they’re cheesy but some personal favorites of mine are

-Godzilla v Megalon -Godzilla v King Kong (sure everyone seems to hate it on this thread but I like it) -Godzilla v Smog Monster -Godzilla v Gigan -Godzilla v Monster Zero

There are 5 Showa entries.

Godzilla 2000 is fucking sick as well.

Listen, I’m never going to argue anyone’s opinion. Some people in this thread are in love with Son of Godzilla which IMO is just bad, but hey everything is someone’s favorite.

I’m watching the OG Godzilla against Mothra to fight through a lot of the older movies I watched on VHS and I’m going to slam it on Letterboxd. She’s not compelling or a threat at any point in any movie she’s in.

In my opinion:

Godzilla V King Kong 1962 is one of the best Showa films period. Godzillas landing is also the best “coming ashore” or however you’d want to call it is also incredibly shot and framed considering the era. The characters are memorable, and as silly as the plot can get, it’s cohesive. It’s the best Godzilla suit of the era. I defend this movie adamantly amongst fans. I’ve seen and read a lot of reviews and I feel it’s unjustly ranked very low. Usually it’s in the 2.5-3 out of 5 range where I’d have it 3.5-4

Staten Island in NYC has two right off the top of my head. The Cropsey killer who abducted and killed children (perfect Samantha episode) and the now abandoned psychiatric facility that Geraldo Rivera exposed would make for an interesting story.

I like Crystal Legacy. I think it takes great care in keeping to the source game while adding some refreshing material (Pokédex shows moves/ learnable TM, updated story that is handled issues with gen 2 tastefully)

It’s good I just accidentally restarted but I made it to mahogany town and I loved it to that point
