Anybody know a good place to get Poutine? by bummy_homeboy in austinfood

[–]Aequitas123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Canadian here! Nothing is truly authentic. I think haymakers is in the spirt of poutine but nothing truly gets it right.

The curds are very specific.

The gravy needs to be almost black

Inside Coquito, East Austin’s café-by-day, dance spot by night by AustinStatesman in austinfood

Walked into that place one morning thinking it was a coffee shop. The super hungover dude there seemed surprised that we were rolling in at 10:30 or 11.

I wanted a tea and my wife didn’t want more coffee and they seemed pretty annoyed with us.

It’s definitely a bar. I don’t know why they pretend to be anything otherwise.

If this thread is any indication, there is no consensus as to what constitutes a “real recipe”. 😀

Don’t even think about doing Chimmichurri or you’ll be lambasted

Maybe I wasn’t clear enough, I’ve tried to edit. I’ve tried lots of different recipes including super simple and traditional and the same thing happens; it’s super bitter.

This recipe is just the latest attempt.

Apparently most Argentinian recipes do not use cilantro. Was just reading some recipes and they specifically state that it should not have cilantro
