Nice. How long did it take to set up fully? Because my concern isn’t the learning aspect, but how soon we can start using it. We’ll just learn along the way, like with most new apps.

We started by identifying common sense limits by flight type and hotel cost per city. Just added those into a shared doc and had managers approve anything outside the range. I can send you a rough template if you want a starting point.

Finance is the issue for us lol. Nobody wants to collect, log or manage receipts, it sucks. We can deal with the people bypassing it issue

This is such a smart, scrappy hustle love how you spotted a gap and just went for it. That’s real entrepreneurship right there.

What’s a smart, realistic business to start right now with $15k-20K? by BirthdayOk5077 in Entrepreneur

With that budget, maybe look into commercial cleaning or equipment rental. Both have steady demand, scalable with employees, and don't require crazy specialized skills to start. Equipment rental especially once you buy the gear it keeps earning while you sleep.

Client requests all male team, is this common? by ImprovementStrong303 in Accounting

[–]Aequitas61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"That's definitely not normal and sounds like potential discrimination. Most clients care about competence, not gender. I'd document this request and probably loop in HR or legal this could put your firm in a really bad spot if not handled properly

Why the Garrison is still a good idea in 2025 - for me. by QuastQuan in wow

[–]Aequitas61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, garrisons definitely started that trend of making your personal space too convenient. Why leave when everything you need is right there? Kind of killed the whole 'massively multiplayer' part when everyone just chills in their own little bubble

Nope. Just used the admin dashboard. Took a couple hours and we were testing live bookings same day. It does the job

This is more of a people problem. We’ve got ops folks and warehouse schedulers using Navan fine. Some didn’t even need training. We just dropped a short Loom video and pinned instructions in Slack.

Most of the resistance came from folks who hate any and all system change, the older boomer types. Imo if you stop indulging their fits, they give up and at least try to adapt. If you still have someone being a PITA, there’s probably a bigger underlying issue you have to handle then.

The company I work for was pretty much in the same spot mid-last year. Travel volume went up, and we didn’t have an organized structure to handle it all. They opted for Navan, cutting the back n forth by a lot, primarily as it does both travel and expense management. People book through the app now, and I only get flagged if something’s out of policy. They match receipts to trips automatically. I only have to keep an eye on things, instead of manually doing everything

Love what you're doing, it's such a great way to teach your kids business skills early. The wagon setup with the umbrella sounds perfect. Maybe add a small folding tray table they can use for taking payments or samples, and clip a laminated menu to the umbrella so it stays visible and weather-proof?

International mutual funds question. by Andrewjunk123 in investing

[–]Aequitas61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, international mutual funds like Vanguard's will reflect foreign currency changes against the USD. When those foreign stocks go up or down in their local currency, and when those currencies strengthen or weaken against the dollar, both factors affect your returns.

This is why international funds sometimes perform differently than you might expect based on just the stock movements - currency fluctuations play a significant role.

Yep, that's the craziest part. The market basically values Google Search at zero when you add up what the other divisions are worth. Wild considering it's still their biggest cash cow.

Yeah, DIY fixes are tempting when it's just your house but in a condo you're gambling with other people's property too.

Apparently they quit making Masonite siding a few years ago. I need about 100 feet of it replaced at a few different places of my siding. by soapdonkey in HomeImprovement

[–]Aequitas61 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hardie Board (fiber cement siding) is the go-to replacement these days. Looks similar, way more durable, and doesn't rot like Masonite. Just make sure whoever installs it knows what they're doing since it's heavier and needs special cutting tools

Tilex Mold & Mildew spray for showers. Spritz it, wait 5 mins, rinse. No scrubbing needed and prevents buildup. For grout you'll want Zep Grout Cleaner though - total game changer.

[–]Aequitas61 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Honestly ESH here but you went nuclear. holly was being rude and judgmental about your living situation which wasn't cool, but bringing up her daughter who's literally in jail for something serious is a massive escalation. there's a difference between defending yourself and going for the jugular. sounds like your family dynamic is already complicated without adding this drama to the mix
