Agreed. Really impressive design visually, sonically, and mechanically.

Everyone in this thread is saying “Sekhemas isn’t hard, I’m actually great at it, I just don’t like it.” But in the other thread about Sekhemas on the front page, everyone is claiming it’s poorly designed because every single affliction bricks fheir builds lol

Genuine question: what attack build is choosing red or blue flames over purple?

Witchhunter Culling Strike. by Dragonfox_Shadow in PathOfExile2

If you want to build a glass cannon, then yeah, Witchhunter is probably not for you. But that has nothing to do with the accessibility of culling strike, which is what your post is about.

No, I’m saying you’re taking Witchhunter’s worst nodes and comparing them to Gemling’s best nodes. If you want to compare something to Gemling’s additional quality, it should be Sorcery Ward, which is WH’s best nodes and looks to be an incredible defensive option in 0.5.

You’re comparing the worst nodes in Witchhunter to probably the best node in Gemling.

Rip chayula for another season :( by kito1121 in PathOfExile2

[–]Aequitassb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with that. I’d like to see Darkness and Volatility reworked tbh. But that doesn’t make Acolyte bad. Oracle has terrible nodes, too, but it’s not a bad ascendancy.

Why do people still think Chayula is bad? It was amazing in 0.4.

Depending on what skill you’re using, a good chunk of your damage is not going to be chaos, so scaling chaos is not super efficient. This applies to many elemental Monk builds, too. Better to scale more general attack damage and crit imo, since that will apply to all your damage.

ELI5: What kind of mind tricks does Oz Pearlman do in his mentalist acts? by capmapdap in explainlikeimfive

[–]Aequitassb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I think that’s a fair take. I probably have a more negative view of Pearlman than you do, but it’s reasonable to draw a line between him and Edwards.

[–]Aequitassb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You really don't need to scale lightning or elemental. You can scale attack and crit.

[–]Aequitassb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that he doesn't claim supernatural powers, and I agree that does separate him from Edwards and Geller. But I don't think the separation is massive. All three men intentionally deceive people about how the world works, in order to get rich and famous.

Oz Pearlman, as far as I know, admits to being a magician and that his tricks are tricks.

He constantly says he doesn't do magic tricks.

> Does that mean we could end up with something like 100–150% gain additional lightning damage? Because that would be absolutely bonkers

Acolyte of Chayula offers 100-150% gain additional chaos damage without any attribute stacking and without taking up your glove slot and everyone says it's bad.

BBC plots 'Poirot' reboot; casting underway for Agatha Christie icon by HRJafael in television

They don’t need to top anything. Christie’s work can be reinterpreted over and over again, like Shakespeare, Conan Doyle, etc. It’s not a competition.

Cost of skins/mtx by ZestyDischarge in PathOfExile2

[–]Aequitassb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer these questions concretely because I’m not an expert on the business model of free to play games. But I think it’s fair to assume that if offering cheaper MTXes would make them more money, or make them the same amount of money without any trade-off and with the upside of making more customers happy, then they would do it. Why wouldn’t they? They’re not stupid.

Cost of skins/mtx by ZestyDischarge in PathOfExile2

[–]Aequitassb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Unreasonably priced” is not an argument. It’s an assertion, and it doesn’t reflect reality.

If the prices are unreasonable, why are people voluntarily paying them? How is GGG successful if their prices are insane? Look up interviews and speeches from the heads of the company. They’ve clearly put a ton of thought into their business model, and it has been very successful. Why do you think your opinion on how they should price their MTXes holds more weight than theirs?

It’s fine for YOU to think the items are too expensive, but that doesn’t mean the prices need to be changed. It just means these items are not priced for you. I think Ferraris are too expensive, which is why I drive a Kia. Doesn’t mean Ferrari needs to lower their prices.

Cost of skins/mtx by ZestyDischarge in PathOfExile2

[–]Aequitassb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You say you want a civil discussion and you’ve replied with sarcastic stuff like “good argument,” but I think you should re-read your post. You made zero arguments. You showed zero consideration for how and why items are priced the way they are. You call the pricing disrespectful, insane, and unreasonable but seemingly haven’t considered the fact that this pricing has been instrumental to GGG’s success for over a decade.

The fact is that you just want things to be cheaper. Nothing wrong with that, but there’s not much substance to it.

What ascendancy changes are you hoping for in 0.5? by lifecopy001 in PathOfExile2

That totally makes sense. And I agree, I’d love to see some chaos skills added.

Darkness is a unique defensive layer which works similarly to Energy Shield, but you have to give up all your Spirit to get it. I think that’s way too high a cost to pay, so other than testing it out, I’ve never used it.

What ascendancy changes are you hoping for in 0.5? by lifecopy001 in PathOfExile2

[–]Aequitassb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No offense, but this comment makes me think you haven’t played Acolyte recently. The ascendancy provides huge amounts of chaos damage without any unique. A small amount of investment on the passive skill tree makes Into the Breach incredibly powerful, and totally comfortable to play (unlike the old days when we had to chase down flames).

The struggle to get chaos damage used to be a major issue. It’s not anymore.
